Good shocks!
I bought front and rear shocks that were replacing Monroe spectrum shocks that were worn out after only a year and a half. These Gabriel shocks are nice and smooth without being too stiff. Very pleased.would buy again

Good value
They fit and they work. What more can you ask for? Gas charged and they did lift my car about an inch, but no problem there for me. My only concern is that long term the rubber bushings may wear out prematurely due to the gas charge always pushing the shock to extended length. We'll see, but for now, very satisfied with these.

Great ride for the price.
My mechanic put these on zippity bang today. Took longer to take off the old ones due to rust. Made the rear end of my 97 Jeep ZJ ride much better. Sure go ahead and spend $60 some at Sears for the same danged thing for a single absorber. Look online if you don't believe me. Amazon beats them hands down. I'll come back in a few months and let you know if there are any cons. So far only pros for these. They look and feel about the same as the original shocks I took off the rear. So far very happy. I thought I had ordered the front ones and needed these rear ones anyway so I just kept them and had them put on the rear instead. My mechanic told me they fit the rear NOT the front like I thought. Duh! That's why I have a mechanic do this stuff for my car. Didn't look all that hard to install and he removed the old ones and put the new ones on in about an hour give or take. No biggie. Now I have to buy 2 new tires for the front after I get the front Gabrial shocks I just ordered. The ride should improve quite a bit as well. Cupped tires are dangerous and make for a very bumpy ride. Ugh! Nice Jeep, crappy ride until I put new shocks all around on. Just putting new ones on the rear sure made a LOT of difference. Can hardly wait until I get the fronts on as well. Should ride like a new Jeep for sure. I decided on Gabriel vs. Monro after consulting with some mechanic buddies of mine. They said Monro is nice if you like to keep replacing them every other jerk. Bought Jeep a month ago and fixing up for winter and seeing as how I have this 97 fixed up and intend to keep for awhile why put on some inferior shocks? I may not know front from rear shocks but I am not foolish with my money nosirrreeebob.

Okay, install harder.
Ok, no nut to help with tightening, just flats on the top of the post. These were cheap, so I should expect it. Yet to see the actual performance. Install is painful with this design. Most shocks have 2 nuts, one on the bottom to hold while you tighten the top. Not these. If you have a ratcheting box end set that would be best. This is not a metric nut either. Ok, one of 2 was wrong won't even fit. Nice to find out while I'm trying to install. Anyhow, both boxes were marked correctly but one had a threaded portion which is about half as long, different threaded post, both bushings won't even fit on it. The nut included does not fit, not nyloc. Also the curved washers won't fit on the shaft. This is factory quality control issue from gabriel, not an amazon issue. Amazon kindly let me return the bad one for a refund and shipping free back. Gosh, what a pain! I am buying the other from a local store who sells a match. Geez, hope the one from Amazon is at least decent performance.

Good deal.
Good deal. Strange that I ordered a pair and they were shipped separately on the same day and arrived over a week apart.

Fit Perfectly... or at least almost.
These fit perfectly. They differ in design from the shocks they replaced. Gabriel puts out a digital flyer and tells you o check the bushings. I checked the bushings on my new shocks and it appeared to me that at least one shock might have a defective bushing. The replacement was perfect and it made the bushing on the shock I retained appear that it too might be out of alignment or defective. I checked with a technician and now both the perfect shock and the almost perfect version or on my vehicle. Hope the technician is correct and they'll give me the 50,000 miles of service.
