Excellent VND + CPL
This has become a standard part of my kit for outdoor shoots on bright days.

Top Notch VND
I have several VND filters and find this one to be the best so far. Very good color accuracy and a hard stop to prevent the dreaded X band. I have purchased a few Freewell step up rings to support use on my various lenses and everything works flawlessly. My only complaint is the small screws that secure the filter (to prevent rotation once the correct CPL position is established) are very small and have worked their way loose a few times. I bought an extra set for when I will invariably lose one. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase and would buy it again.

Is 3-7 stop what you want?
The build quality is good and it functions as expected with minimum damage to IQ but you need to consider this - if you shoot indoors or at dusk or you switch to slo-mon or you shoot stills along with 24fps video - 3 stop is too much for all these. From the first time I am trying, this 3 stop appears to be darker than actual 3 stop on camera. Just to keep in mind. And if you use primes in bright outdoors scenes during the day - 7 stop might not be sufficient. You will need a 9-10 stop. I am happy to buy a nd that goes from 1.5 to 9-10 stops or buy one that goes from 1-5 stop and stack additional fixed 5 stop on top. But this is just me and everyone’s use case is different. The filter itself is well built and retains IQ very well as compared to other sub $150 nd filters on Amazon. Buy if you can live with 3stop as minimum and not going beyond 7 stop, this could be just what you need. The magnetic functionality for me is not that big of a difference making thing but the snapping removing of mist filter on top is definitely valuable to me as I don’t want to use mist for entirety of my shoot. If you are not sure of what you want but a nd that goes 1.5 stop to 9 stop or close to that.

The quality is great
It feels very delicate and easy to use, which improved the quality of my images. The only slight drawback is that the magnet cover is too heavy.

Costs add up. Convenient, but dramatic color shift.
I wish the screws were captive, but otherwise the build is great. Between all the additional lens mounts and freewell lens caps I had to buy for all my lenses, this kit quickly got into the $300+ range. Then there's the color shift. When you adjust the circular polarizer it shifts magenta and green dramatically. Then once that’s set, the green or magenta cast (one out the other depending on where you set the CPL) gets worse as you stop down the ND. All this is easy enough to color correct out in post but has left me pulling my hair out when i don’t adjust enough on some clips or over adjust on others. So yeah, Ive gotten amazing images out of it but I wish I had waited for Polar Pro to release a similar product. Of and I’ve already lost a screw. I’ve gone hiking and backpacking with it and it held up well. Lens cap held tight and i love the finger ring it has so its around my finger while I shoot. It stinks to use the haze filter because the lens cap doesn’t hold on nearly as tight when you stack that on. All in all a solid C+ product.

Recomendado - Sigma Art 24-70
Recomendado!

Chose this instead!
Chose freewell v2 over these 300 dollar filters that do less!! It’s basically perfect, quality is superior! Won’t regret it!

Colour casts
Definitely has a bad colour cast. Also, being an old akool camera op, I'm not sure the magnet system works that well

Was soll ich sagen?

Very versatile 82mm VND with no image quality loss
Absolutely love this filter; broke my old 82mm filter and it was only after getting this one that I realized just how bad the tint on my old filter was. Love the quality and lack of (perceivable) tint on this Freewell. I also LOVE the way in this which the parts store together using magnets; so easy to pop off and make the filter + covers + adapter sandwich, or make just the cover sandwich and pop it in my pocket until I need to take the filter off of the lens again. I was worried about the 3-7 stop range but it's actually perfect as I only use the filter when outside and just take it off inside (since the 3 stops at lowest is a fairly high level of light-loss). Haven't found myself needing more than the 7 stops yet as I shoot mostly at 60fps. Haven't noticed any other loss in image quality either (such as sharpness etc.) and the lack of x-pattern due to the hard stops is awesome. In the reviews I'd seen the CPL portion had two screws and were prone to falling out but my copy must be the updated version because it only has 1 screw and it's trapped in the frame, meaning that no matter how much you unscrew it, it won't come out of the frame (aka no risk of ever losing it). Don't think I'll ever use the fancy carrying case it comes with since it's huge but it's nice to have in case I ever travel and want to bring other filters with me. All-in-all a very high-quality package that maintains the great image quality of my lenses.
