This looks the part and with my Dahon Helios P8 being an unsual shape, the length of the hoop is helpful, I don't think shorter D-lock would have been of any use when the only option is a lamp post. Doesn't look like this D-lock will resist bumpkey attacks but looks intimidating enough to put most thieves off. The keys seem solid enough and you get two. There's no instruction manual, therefore I have no idea whether to use mineral oil or silicone for lubrication and protection against moisture. The key cover is a good idea, should keep some rain out. On any normal bike, mounting the clamp would have been no problems at all - loads of options. However, fixing the frame clamp to my unusually shaped bike frame was tricky, only one position was possible because of the folding design - I eventually mounted the D-lock (imagine landscape, {ala Microsoft Word} if you will) horizontally to the frame but I don't think this position would be possible with newer Dahons which feature a single, thick, horizontal-ish central tube - you'd have to attach it to the seatpost, if there's available space around the light fittings in a position which doesn't obstruct the folding process... or to the handlebar post, if it will fit over the tubing and if there is room, though the way most Dahons fold, this probably won't work. Due to the upright, horizontal position, the clamp seems under a lot of lateral stress through riding motion, therefore I have doubts to it's longevity, however, it looks like ABS plastic so who knows? Will use it till it drops off because the alternative is to carry it in a rucksack, or by bungeeing it to the rear pannier. I use it with a "Sterling 825C 8 x 2500mm Double Loop Vinyl Coated Multi-Stranded Steel Cable - Black ", also currently on this website, to secure the quick release front wheel. At 2.5m, the Sterling is long enough to go through a D-lock, front wheel, helmet and around a lamp post, with length to spare. The cable (not the D-lock hoop which is painted metal) has a nice, thick vinyl coating which won't scratch your paintwork or hands but doesn't coil on it's own, you have to weave it into a circle for storage. The combination of this D-lock and (additional) loop cable is a good visual deterrent though in reality, thieves carry large wire cutters, crowbars, bump keys and battery powered angle grinders ("Who's going to stop us carrying one of these? HAHAHA!!!!" - you tube video), therefore no cable or D-lock is going to keep your bike secured from determined scum. All we can do is deter minimally prepared opportunists, thieves with no picking knowledge or time to apply their skills, and those with zero attention span... which is most of them.

Can't really fault this one bit especially for the money. The lock itself is well made such i.e the metals and plastic, good locking mechanism and fits nicely vertically on my bike frame, only small issue is the sturdyness of the lock when docked into the holder as it is a little wobbly but a part from that well value for money.

Ive used this lock for around a year now and it has now started to rust/corrode where the key goes into the lock - just about works still but a bit iffy at times. The lock itself is great and very secure. My bike was nearly stolen once when i had it locked up with this lock and i came to it int the morning and found all the thief managed to do was bend the back wheel beyond repair in the process with the lock still in tact and most importantly the bike still there! It does what it says and its cheap and cheerful. But if you want something that's going to last a long time i would look for an alternative :)

This is a good sturdy lock, however it is too large to be convenient for most use. The mount is also of low quality and it has been difficult/impossible to keep this sturdily mounted to my bike

Great value for money. I love how long the lock is- it makes it a lot quicker and easier to lock my frame and back wheel up. Also has a sliding panel for when it’s raining to make sure the lock doesn’t rust. It’s hard to find a good bike lock at this price!

The key snapped in half in the lock due to low quality, flimsy metal. This meant my bike was stuck with a jammed lock, and the spare key could not be used. The lock itself is very sturdy, meaning breaking the lock was very challenging and the situation caused a great deal of hassle. I would deeply advise against putting yourself at risk of the same situation unless the keys become better made in the future. Apart from this dire error from the manufacturers, the lock and the bike clip are very good and secure.

I've had this lock for almost three years now and it's been exellent, very sturdy without being too heavy on the bike. I managed to break the bracket attachment to the bike (my own fault) and emailed the company about buying a replacement bracket. Not onyl did they respond immediately but they gave sent me a whole new lock, bracket and cable free of charge! OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!

This Via Velo U lock has been on my bike for the last year and a half and I have no complaints. The bike is kept out the back of the house and I've never needed to leave it longer than a few hours but combined with a Kryptonite Kryptoflex to bolt in the front tyre it has been an economical and sturdy choice. Perhaps some of the reviews may be better to refer to if they've been leaving their bikes out in the rain etc however I am more than happy with this lock and would recommend wholeheartedly.

This bike lock is very flexible, it can be easily locked and unlocked. And this lock it is made of strong material, which is durable and safe for the bike. It is also very waterproof and anti-corrosion, durable and long-lasting.

Da mein letztes Fahrrad gestohlen wurde war ich auf der Suche nach einem Fahrrad Bügelschloss. Wann hat insgesamt zwei Schlüssel und eine Halterung um das Schloss am Fahrrad zu montieren. Das Schloss ist relativ lang und macht einen sehr hochwertigen Eindruck.Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt hier. Ich bin zufrieden

El candado por el momento va bien. No me gusta que la parte de cierre de la u sea de plástico ya que paree bastante malo. Lo peor es el enganche de la bici. Muy pequeño y con poca margen, yo lo llevo con bridas, pero tiene pinta de que se romperá pronto.

Utilisez pour un scooter. Simple à utiliser, très costaud, léger et pas cher. En clair le top.

Dieses massive Fahrradschloss gefällt mir gut. Ich denke es wird potenzielle Fahrraddiebe abschrecken. Der Schließzylinder ist leichtgängig und macht einen wertigen Eindruck. Der zweite Schlüssel als Ersatz, ist eine gute Idee. Leider passt die Halterung für das Schloss, nicht ganz in das positive Bild. Sie macht keinen wertigen Eindruck und ich habe immer das Gefühl dieses doch schwere, da massive, Fahrradschloss zu verlieren. Noch habe ich es aber. Trotzdem, deswegen nur 4 Sterne.
