Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier Jacket!!!
When I purchased this I was in the market for a light jacket that would protect me from the wind on cool mornings when it was too warm to wear my riding jacket and repel water if I got caught in the rain or just to keep me dry in heavy mist.I was able to use this jacket twice so far. Once on a family trip during a pretty heavy down pour. It was lite enough that I was able to wear it while driving and not get hot and sticky but provided enough protection from the wind and rain so that when I had to jump out and run in to a store I didn't get cold or soaked. This morning was the first time I used if for cycling and I thought it worked great. I was 54 degrees and not being a native New Englander that's cool enough for me to want long sleeves while out on the bike. I did some revolver drill out ten miles and than did a nice pace back. To give you an idea of how hard I was pushing it my entire ride put me just under a 100% average output of my FTP. I mention that because as hard as I was pushing it I didn't get hot or drenched from sweat. The jacket was damp from where it had absorb my sweat but not soaked.I'm 5'7" and 155lbs. and a little stocky. I ordered the medium sized jacket and it fits perfect. The overall quality is good and the jacket looks great and is comfortable also. The pocket in the back is one large pocket that is secure with velcro at the top and seems to close well. I also took this jacket for a ride as a carry item just to see how well it rolls up and fits in my jersey pockets and had no problems or complaints with it as far as that's concerned. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase and this jacket is one of the reasons that I keep buying Pearl Izumi products.

Fantastic jacket!
I ordered this jacket after reading the reviews. And I'm happy to say that I only have great things to say! If you're looking for a super-lightweight jacket to block the wind, then this a great choice. Our climate here in Las Vegas is such that the layering approach is best, and this jacket serves as my outer layer/wind & weather barrier (when needed of course). Let me say upfront that I only typically ride in weather that is 50 degrees or higher. So keep that in mind with this review. It weighs literally next to nothing, and is highly-packable should you need to take it off during a ride. I ordered the red, and am very pleased with the color. The pictures are an accurate representation of the actual color of red that the jacket is (which isn't always the case). It's bright, and makes me more visible, which was part of the reason for the choice in color. With regard to the fit, I am 5'11", and about 185, and the large fits me perfectly. I tried on a medium at the LBS and it was definitely too small. I don't generally ride in the rain, so I can't speak about it's ability to repel water. But the PI tag attached to the jacket shows a graphical representation of both water and wind repellency, and these show that it's about 80% repellent of both. If you know PI products you'll know the little bar graphs I'm referring to. If not you can probably see them if you search the product on PI's site. With regard to fit, it is loose form-fitting, just as the description indicates. At higher speeds (25+ mph), i have experienced some "flapping" in the wind, but it is very minor, to be expected with this kind of jacket, and wasn't bothersome at all. Having used it now on two rides, it does seem to virtually completely block the wind, just as advertised. One reviewer commented on the fact that the arm-pits are made out of vented fabric, with no ability to cover them, and I was just a little concerned that this might be an issue. However for me, it wasn't. Lastly, the construction seems to be flawless. Great jacket, great price, and I would buy it all over again.

High visibility lightweight road bike 45F jacket for slender people
If you buy this jacket with anything but safety orange or screaming cornea-searing yellow you are either young, crazy, or a mafia hit-cyclist. Or maybe you live in the Mojave desert.Seriously, this isn't a jacket for around town wear. It's purely for road biking, and it's meant to be seen. The first time I wore it I got smiles from blinded pedestrians, and calculating looks from fellow cyclists considering the advantages of visiblity. It is designed to be lightweight. It does not feel durable; I don't consider it a mountain biking jacket. It is not insulated; it works best over a long sleeved cycling shirt or polypro long underwear top. I can put a lightweight fleece under it; that makes it good to 40F assuming usual windchill. I think a down vest might fit, that would take it to the 30s. With a short sleeve shirt maybe 45-55.There's one rear pouch that might hold a light wallet or a light key or two. The jacket will fold into the rear pouch if you're careful, but I don't think it's designed to do that.It is not Goretex; you need to open it if you're sweating. (Goretex is heavy and $$). It is definitely not waterproof; this is not a rain jacket. Light mist, cloud, fog - not rain.It is for slender people. Sorry. I'm 5'11, 180 lbs, long arms and the XL just fits (allows lightweight fleece). It would be better if:1. The rear pouch was a bit stronger and designed for the jacket to fold into. (minor)2. It had more 3M style reflective material especially on back and arms.If it had car light reflective material it would get 5 stars; otherwise it's excellent for intended use and slender persons. I actually need twilight/shadow/overcast visibility more than car light (I have gear for night) so the yellow searing color does 80% of the job.

Does the job
Very good shell cover - keeps the wind and wet out whilst letting you breathe - have only used it in mist and light rain thus far - it's a snug fit so probably best go for a size up unless you have a 'pro's' body shape - got mine in a sale for about ยฃ8

Great lightweight cycling jacket
A great cycling jacket at a great price - really lightweight but keeps the wind off. Easily rolls up to fit in a pocket in my cycling top if I get a bit hot. I already had one in blue and got this to use as the evenings get darker - high vis version is great - very bright colour. Keeps it's brightness after washing too.

Good size with long arms
Good size with long arms. Fits in back pocket neatly and ideal when the weather turns wet. I have just used it in a thunder storm with hail in Italy. Performed well in horrible conditions. Like the brand for fit and quality

Lovely lightweight jacket
I recommend this jacket highly. It could be mildly more breathable, but it fits well and is sturdily waterproof (though it won't handle torrential rain).
