WYZE Wired Doorbell Camera v2(Existing Doorbell Wiring Required), 2K HD

This doorbell is excellent! The original wyze wired doorbell was excellent as well, but this has the microSD card storage which was a major factor for me when deciding whether or not to purchase this to replace my original wyze wired doorbell. I read some of the bad reviews and got a little concerned because my original wyze doorbell camera worked flawlessly for years, and didnt want to deal with it, if it had issues. I went ahead and purchased this new v2 wired doorbell, because ive never had any issues with my wyze products in the past. I got it installed quickly, and everything has been perfect from day 1! i havent experienced any of the issues mentioned in some of these reviews, and its been installed for over 4 months now. I love having the microSD storage and the improvement in picture quality over the original wyze wired doorbell is huge. The only thing that annoyed me was during the install, the wires didnt fit if you wanted to install the doorbell flat against the wall. The only way i could get them to fit was to install the angled wedge to point the doorbell left or right. I didnt want to point the doorbell at an angle, so i installed this temporarily. After installing it with the angled wedge, I then had to purchase a seperate wedge kit, which included wedges that pointed straight ahead. I was then able to fit the wires, inside the wedge, after adding the straight wedge in the kit (that points down slightly). Problem was quickly solved, but I think the wedge kit should be included with the doorbell, or include a wedge for installing the doorbell flat against the wall so there is room for the doorbell wires. Either way, not a big deal for me, and was an easy $15 fix. I also love that you can use your mechanical chime with this new v2 doorbell. Highly recommend!

Our previous video doorbell by LaView quit working, so I started looking for another video doorbell that would fit our needs without breaking the bank. I have to say that this Wyze video doorbell exceeded my expectations. Installing it was quite easy (since I I had done the previous doorbell). Unlike some who have complained about the doorbell module, I didn't have any issues installing it on my mechanical doorbell per the step-by-step online instructions, and it works perfectly fine. The video quality far surpasses the old LaView doorbell, and the fact that I can see color at night (night vision is off) is a great bonus. In fact, it works so well at night with the night vision turned off, that I can even see the homes across the street in color in the dark. The field of view also works well for our purposes...we can see our entire front porch. I am using an SD Card for storage (not the cloud services), and that is also working fine so far. The only concern I have is that this doorbell doesn't have any type of anti-theft protection, but that is not an issue in our neighborhood. The two-way communications also work great...we were at dinner one evening and a neighbor rang the doorbell. The app on my phone notified me, and I was able to quickly bring up the app and have a conversation with them while 10 miles away from the house. They could hear us fine, and we could see them, and the sound quality was like a regular phone call. I consider the Wyze Video Doorbell an excellent value and will certainly consider their other products in the future.

I purchased my first Wyze camera in ‘22; that camera no longer works consistently. I was pleased with the actions of that camera so I purchased five more in December 22 and had them installed outside my house in January 2022. Within 10 days, the new shed camera went off-line. I quickly learned one of the main drawbacks of these cameras: you have to access the camera to put it back online. So up to the top of my 15 foot ladder I went. It took a while, but I was able to get the camera back online. It stayed connected for about three days before going off-line again. I left it off-line for about a month before repeating the process. The shed camera no longer works because it will not connect. It recorded video for roughly 4 weeks over a span of five months. One of the cameras purchase was a Zoom camera. It does a great job of zooming, it is crisp. But again, I can’t get it to stay online. Therefore, I had to remove it from where it was installed and place it within easier reach. This defeats the purpose of it being a security camera because everyone has easy access to it. There was a period of time last fall when the cameras began acting correctly, after switching to Fios. (Thought the shed cam was just a fluke.), In August ‘24, purchased 2 doorbell cameras and the vacuum in January’25. All three of those products seemed to work at first. But one of the doorbell cameras has not worked since April; it’s now, August. Even after unplugging and restarting, it does not work. The vacuum cleaner which is superior to IRobots, began going off-line in the first month, just like all of their other products. I contacted customer service, but was unable to get any thing to work. Of course they no longer support any of the cameras that I purchased. Wyze knows, that the business of going off-line is a major problem. Before you even consider purchasing this, read the reviews on Reddit and other websites. Longtime users, such as myself are not happy with these cameras. Everything has a lifespan of one to two years, if you’re lucky.For the doorbell cameras, very similar to Ring, by the time the doorbell has rung & it comes up on your phone, the person has probably already left. It takes a good 20 to 30 seconds. At this point when someone rings the doorbell it doesn’t even show up on my phone. I’ve had two incidents where I really needed to have security cameras that work. The farmer next-door decided to spray fertilizer pellets while myself and 10 others stood outside my house talking. We were probably 15 feet from the field, but those fertilizer pellets sprayed 50 to 60 feet beyond the field. Neither of the two doorbell cameras nor three cameras pointed towards the field picked up nine people running and ducking for cover behind cars, while being pelted with hard pellets just a bit smaller than BB!!!‘s. I braved the barrage, jumping up and down and waving my arms trying to get him to stop and notice what was happening. This went on for approximately four minutes and NONE of the cameras recorded these events. I really needed the video so that the farmer could see how long I tried to get his driver to stop, how people were laying down behind cars in my yard, etc. Instead, I had to rely on my phone camera, showing cars covered in fertilizer, after the event. On the second event, someone did donuts in my yard the doorbell camera that no longer comes online and the front yard camera did not pick any of this up. As a matter of fact, they didn’t even pick up a DoorDash driver dropping food off on the front porch in front of the doorbell. I wish I could have the $800+ that I invested. I absolutely do not recommend Wyze doorbells, or any other Wyze products. While they look good at first, the technology is low quality; security cameras that go off-line and cannot self reboot are not security cameras.

I’ve used several different security cameras and options for our front door and finally decided to give this one a chance. Easily wired up and powered from the old existing doorbell wires. The angle bracket that was included got it perfectly so I can see all of what I need and wanted to be able to see. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to see packages since we don’t have a large doorstep and packages are left very close to the door. This is wide enough angle that I can see the ground exactly where they put packages which is fantastic. The image quality is great and that you can put in your own micro SD card for constant recording without needing a monthly subscription is perfect for me. Also LOVE that it isn’t battery powered. The look of it is nice and you can setup if you want the glowing circle to show when it’s recording or not. I prefer it never turn on that light. My house was built in 1978 so adding smart features is always a concern. But since it just uses the regular standard doorbell wires that wasn’t an issue. Night vision is some of if not the best I’ve seen. Wyze really has the color night vision thing locked down and it’s kind of magical to see. There’s tons of nerdy options you get for free and others you can unlock with a subscription but nothing essential is behind a paywall. It’s mostly just smart notifications you have to pay for. Voice quality and latency are great. I don’t think it records both sides of the conversation though. Pretty sure it only records what the person at the door is saying and NOT what you speak through it using the app which I wish they would change. Same thing on my Wyze Cam 3. I’ve had some moments I wish I had both sides of the conversation and it’s been disappointing in that regard. I grade it a A. It’s be a A+ but I have a few nitpicky things that I don’t love that keep it from being a PERFECT product for me and may be some things to consider depending on your preferences. First I don’t love the delay on ringing the doorbell. It’s hooked up to my old chime, but you use a wireless thing to pair it and instead of an instantaneous ring of the chime like with a dumb standard doorbell that just connects the wires it’s sending a signal wirelessly from the doorbell to the adapter thing that’s included and then triggers the chime. So there is noticeable delay between when they press the button and when the chimes sound. Also I’m concerned if the internet goes down so will my doorbell which is annoying. However it is cool you can setup silent times where you’ll get notified from the app about a doorbell push, but disable the chime. Really nice feature to have with a baby that needs to take naps. I also got a LOT of notifications from it when I first set it up. Even after setting up detection zones. I’d get cars passing all the time and things still being detected in areas I had said not to give me notification on. After restricting it down WAY more than I would have thought I’d need to and turning down the sensitivity below the default I’m getting far less notifications. So it’s good, just took more tweaking than other systems. I think they might do that so that you are more inclined to pay the subscription for smart notifications. I also feel a bit weird about having the micro SD card in the doorbell. If someone wanted they could easily rip the doorbell off and with it take the SD card. Highly doubt that would ever happen, BUT it’s a possibility. I’ve had other camera systems that all connected to a central hub that I could connect a USB drive to store all my footage and that was nice. I see advantages and disadvantages to each camera having local SD cards. My biggest complaint is that the app interface is different than my other Wyze cameras. To switch between live view and playback on my doorbell is annoying. On the Wyze Cam 3 I have for my baby monitor it’s so much easier and smoother to use. The Wyze Cam you pick view live and you see a live view. To view playback you click view playback and then can scrub left and right through a timeline. Easy and how I want ALL of the cameras to work. The doorbell interface however is incredibly annoying. You have a list of recent events that you can click on and get a still image of, but to view playback you have to go to “SD card” and now I have a vertical scroll of a timeline rather than horizontal. I just don’t understand why they have such different user interfaces across their products. I get there are features specific to the doorbell, but not enough to have the UI/UX feel unfamiliar between products. Anyway for all the faults it has I think it’s by far the best option out there at really any price point. The fact that it’s one of the least expensive options makes it even more of a no brainer to get this one.

This is my first time using a doorbell cam. I started off with an Arlo brand, which works excellent, but I returned it when I found this Wyze product. Reason being is that this Wyze gives the option of a recording history option either via subscription or with an optional micro SD card. The Wyze subscription is actually very affordable being as low as $1.67/mo, opposed to the Arlo's $10/mo. Also, this Wyze(V2) hardwired unit was well over $20 cheaper than the Arlo. I have been very satisfied with the video quality and basic functioning of this unit. The few cons of this product are: 1)speaker on the actual unit is non adjustable and quite low in a opened, outdoor setting. So, very hard for people at the door to hear what you're saying, unless they get their ear mere inches from the unit. 2) quite a bit of false notifications when it is lightly raining. Perhaps this would be improved with a subscription since with a subscription, you could select Ai recognition(human, animal, car forms). 3) Accessing the SD card for recorded events, you will have to scroll through all the actual hours starting at around 5am, and find the event, which is indicated with a blue bar. Also, during playback, you can not scroll thru the video clips. It will revert back to the beginning of the clip if you try. The micro SD card is on the left side of the unit and easily accessible, which is rather very convenient for criminals. However, my unit is encased in an aftermarket housing which prevents easy access to the SD card, so a none issue for me. The trickiest part of the rather easy install process was figuring out the proper wire connections of the chime module to the mechanical door chime unit. Wyze's chime module has 3 wires, whereas the Arlo only has 2. I suppose an electrician would easily figure out where the 3rd wire should go on a mechanical chimer that incorporates 2 bells. I'm no electrician, so I just had to try different configurations until the unit worked. All that being said, I still like the product, especially at the low price point and the option of an SD and low cost of subscription as another option. So, yes, I would recommend this Wyze product.

I bought this camera because it has an SD card slot, and that was the biggest selling point for me. I didn't want to pay for another monthly cloud storage membership just to save my recordings. Being able to store everything on an SD card is exactly what I was looking for. Installation was quick and easy, and the camera was up and running in just a few minutes. Great quality, simple setup, and no recurring subscription fees.

I bought this thinking it would do better than an older version I bought which would never chime through to the mechanical chime no matter what I did. Problem with the new version like this is you cannot add remote chimes to it where is the older version you could. So it's quite frustrating that I have no time inside now so I can't tell when someone's ringing the doorbell where is the cheaper older version allowed me to have a inexpensive remote chime plugged in wherever I wanted to and it worked great. For this reason it feels like even though this is an upgrade it's actually gone backwards considerably in functionality. I actually have these doorbells on three homes and to date I've never had a single home interior time work other than one after I bought a fairly expensive transformer. My take of this is just skip this doorbell until they can figure out how to add internal chimes. Either get the next version up which is a pro version in which case you got to also pay for pretty expensive internal time or get the lesser version of this which works with an internal time. Is beyond me why they went backwards in functionality. The other problem is even though the app pushes new firmware constantly and also software they've actually made it more difficult to view clips on the memory card. Their business model really pushes hard to get you to sign up for monthly fees. I predict that I'm going to get rid of this doorbell in the future and find one that doesn't have monthly fees that's easier to view and that doesn't have a problem with the chimes. This door will also tends to go offline can a lot and you have to actually be physically on site to push a reset button to get it to reconnect. It's quite frustrating and while I think it could be a great product it's obviously considerably cheaper than others and as a result it has to cut corners.

I tried out the pro/wireless version of the wyze doorbell first, because I live in an apartment and don't have a doorbell to connect the v2 to. My roommate and I split the cost (which isn't the cheapest!) but we quickly came to realize we hate the wyze doorbell pro for the following reasons: it's big, clunky, not the best resolution, doesn't record continuously like all the other wyze cameras, no micro SD card so you miss events or things that happened, you can't turn off the light circle on the camera itself (this is a HUGE issue on the Wyze forums, there's a huge forum for exactly this light ability), you have to charge it sooner the higher your detection settings are and the more events it detects (about every 3 weeks for me)... I'm sure there's more but we'd only had the pro for 4 months before I bought the wired v2 the other day and I'm so happy I did. This is exactly what I was looking for. I wish I could return the wyze doorbell pro cuz it's a piece of junk and wasn't cheap, but whatever, at least I have a good working doorbell now that I won't miss any events for, don't have to worry about cool down periods cuz I can just check the history, I was able to turn off the circle light, turn off the doorbell sound for the camera itself when pressed by someone but able to hear the subsequent doorbell sounds thru 3 of my cameras in my apartment. It's also got such better resolution and day and night vision than the pro. I used a transformer that plugs into my wall to make this happen (bought it on Amazon - search for ring doorbell transformer - I also left a review on the one I bought in case you wanted to know which it was, I just can't link it cuz amazon). The setup is janky af, but it's exactly what I wanted and needed. I guess the pro version is a paperweight now lol

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much for the price—but the Wyze Doorbell v2 totally blew me away. The video is super sharp (2K quality!), even at night. I can see faces clearly and even packages left right at the door. The tall view shows everything top to bottom—no more guessing what the motion alert was. Setup was easy, and I love that it works with both 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi. The app is quick, easy to use, and sends alerts right away. Plus, it works great with Alexa! If you want a solid smart doorbell without spending a fortune, this one’s a no-brainer. Totally recommend it.

The Alexa skills in the UK don't work so no using them as the ringer. Great picture and local storage but all useful app features are behind a pay wall.

Just a heads up, I’m in Canada, which is pretty cold! Right now, it’s -28 degrees Celsius, but the camera is working perfectly. I was a bit hesitant to mess with my house’s wiring, but the instructions were straightforward. The apps load every time, and I cost me $30 annual subscription, which isn’t too bad. The zoom isn’t the best, but that’s not the most important feature for me motion detection.I need to know when Amazon is delivering my packages and Uber, since they never ring the doorbell. It’s been over five months since I got it, and it’s still holding up pretty well. I’ll keep you posted until I find out when it might start to fail. For now, it’s working great!
