Brother 2104D Overlocker

I bought this machine for my daughter.A great little machine and a good buy. Very sturdy. Very easy to thread. Follow the threading that is in different colours on the machine or look in manual. Have tried 4 thread wide and narrow i.e. 7mm &5mm.,3 thread wide & narrow, rolled hem & narrow hem. To do this one has to remove the stitch finger. Love the presser foot lever on the right instead of being on the left on some machines. Oh, I almost forgot the free arm to overlock circular items: just remove the little extension on the bed of the machine. I am enjoying using the machine and it is relatively quiet noise wise.

Quality, weight, Threading difficulty , value for money, sewing ability, the Brother 2104D overlocker machine came pre setup of 4 white cones so I can't comment on the the threading and the machine net weight is 5.6 KGS the item dimensions are 33.5 cm wide,29.6 cm height,28.2 cm depth,use fine to heavy materials, maximum 1,300 stitches per minute and quality is good and sturdy recommended get the trim trap for it to catch the trimmings you can do loads of different things just look on YouTube for the Brother 2104D Overlocker and watch the threading part and sewing stuff you can disengage the the knife and sew without the cutting of the project best you test on scrap pieces of materials you are going to sew with, slightly noisy but not to loud in the sewing read the manual for more information comes with 4 cone nets,4 needles 2 at 80 and 2 at 90 for the machine, tweezers, cleaning brush, and three extra feet,1 hexagon driver for changing the needle and removing the needle comes with 2 needles pre-installed and recommend to buy the 4 extra cones of black and 4 cones of white overlocker thread on Amazon.

Was worried as had looked at videos online on how to thread but it was actually really easy. I did it a couple of times to get the muscle memory working. Machine runs lovely & so pleased with the stitch work. I personally found it difficult to move the cutter, but I did & will probably leave it trimming the fabric, but I wanted to know how to do it. It was silly things that I didn’t know such as how to lift the presser foot up - there is a lever on the right hand at the front & having never used an over locker before, didn’t know that I needed to lift the holder up above the threads (I thought it stayed on the top) but overall it was fairly stress free & easy. So pleased I bought it, just wished I’d done it sooner

I was wary of the threading system but I was recommended this one as it's so easy to thread. There is a colour coding system and a you tube video. I love it. Lovely little light machine Comes pre threaded.

Ready to use straight out the box as it’s already threaded. As a beginner who has never used an overlocker before, and been sewing for 2 months, I watched a 20 min YouTube video on this model when I opened to box, then had a go on a scrap of fabric. Within 5 mins I was confident to use on my first project. Took about 15 mins to neaten up all inside seams of a pair of jeans I upcycled. Honestly so easy to use and a game changer for making wearable and washable clothing!

I am very impressed with this brother overlocker, it was ready to sew straight from the box. The seams on the dress, looked professionally finished. I am pleased I brought this machine and now looking forward to see what else it can do.

My husband bought this for my birthday 😊, it was my first overlocker. I’m a beginner and only been sewing since Christmas 2023, I didn’t want something expensive or to complicated to use. This machine come pre threaded with 4 cones of white thread and ready to go straight out of the box, other brands I looked at didn’t come with thread or only 2 so you would have to buy another 2 to use it. the instructions and dvd were very good, and the machine worked beautifully 👍 I found it pretty straightforward to thread and this came with additional presser feet which I haven’t used yet. Overall I’m very happy with it and would recommend it 👍

Brilliant service from all concerned, arrived the day after I placed my order, everything that should be there is there according to the manual. The machine is neat and quite heavy for the compact size. I have not yet tried the machine out but the manufacturer is a very well known and respected company. I was pleased that the instruction booklet is in English and am looking forward to learning how to use the overlocker. The small sample sent with the machine shows beautifully neat edges and stitching.

Sono molto contenta, devo fare pratica. Il mio utilizzo e' modico quindi credo di aver acquistato un buon prodotto ad una cifra abbordabile.

Die Maschine macht auf mich einen sehr soliden, stabilen und - aufgrund der abgerundeten Ecken - keineswegs klobigen sondern eher gefälligen optischen Eindruck. Fest steht sie, dank vier Saugnäpfen, auf dem Arbeitstisch. Freiarm und vordere Klappe waren für den Transport durch Klebestreifen gesichert. Nach Entfernen funkionierte das Öffnen/Bewegen dieser Teile dann ganz leicht. Indem ich die blauen Streifen anfangs für Dekoration hielt, "übersah" ich sie aber beinahe. :-) Das Geräusch des laufenden Motors empfinde ich als völlig okay. (Meine alte Industriemaschine war deutlich lauter!) Die Bedienungsanleitung wirkt detailliert, spricht u.a. auch mögliche Fehlerquellen an. Sie könnte aber, beispielsweise das Thema Einfädeln betreffend, gerne größere, einfach erkennbare und somit vielleicht noch leichter-verständlichere Darstellungen aufweisen. Die hinzu gefügten schriftlichen Tipps sind bestimmt aber auch hilfreich. (Die Möglichkeit bzw. den Platz, neben der Overlock sowie einer "normalen" Haushaltsnähmaschine noch meinen PC mit der entsprechenden CD nebenher laufen zu lassen, habe ich leider nicht.) Aufgrund der Vor-Einfädelung ließ sich das Garn, angeknotet an die vorhandenen Enden, aber problemlos und einfach durchziehen. Hierfür empfiehlt es sich die Fadenspannung zu reduzieren. Der Freiarm - nach Herausnahme eines Kunststoffteils des Tisches sichtbar -, dürfte für meine Bedürfnisse gerne DEUTLICH schmaler sein. Denn dann wäre er sogar für die Pulloverärmel und Hosenbeine von Baby- und Kinderkleidung geeignet. Da ich keine Vergleichsmöglichkeit habe, wie der Freiarm bei anderen Modellen, falls überhaupt vorhanden, aussieht, kann ich nicht beurteilen, ob es anderswo einen gibt, der meinen Wünschen eher entspricht. Das Nähergebnis wirkt auf mich sowohl mit abgeschnittener Kante als auch, nach Abklappen des Messers, ohne, ordentlich und sauber. Ob ein (separat zu bestellender) Abfallbehälter vonnöten ist, kann jeder Anwender nur für sich selber beantworten. Mir erscheint er momentan nicht so wichtig zu sein. Ebenso, ob weitere Nähfüße, etwa für einen Rollsaum, gebraucht werden. Super fände ich es allerdings, wären diese, für alle Fälle, bereits im vorhandenen Zubehör (Schutzhülle, Garnrollen-Netze, Pinzette, Nähdadeln, Garnrollenkappe, Reinigungs-Pinsel und Imbusschlüssel) mit dabei! Dass die Maschine mit handelsüblichen Nadeln sowie auch mit kleineren Garnrollen bestückt werden kann, gefällt mir sehr. Auch die Lampe, die die Näharbeit ausreichend bescheint, möchte ich hier lobend erwähnen. Wie und ob sie sich ggf. ersetzen lässt, entdeckte ich in der Beschreibung aber noch nicht. :-( Die Geschwindigkeit, mit der genäht werden kann aber selbstverständlich nicht muss - per Fußanlasser ist diese leicht zu regulieren -, ist keineswegs vergleichbar mit der an einer "normalen" Haushaltsnähmaschine! Hier lässt sich also, inklusive professionell aussehender Nähte, zukünftig eine Menge Zeit einsparen. Dass auch die Brother Overlock 2104 D nicht Alles bewerkstelligen kann, beispielsweise Knopflöcher umsäumen oder eine gerade Naht steppen, sollte ja Jedem, der sich dafür interessiert, bekannt sein. ;-) Neugierig bin ich schon darauf, wie kompliziert oder (hoffentlich!) simpel das Einfädeln ausfällt, etwa, sobald Fäden gerissen sind. Und überhaupt, wieweit die Maschine auch im längeren Einsatz, also über Jahre hinweg, anstandslos und ohne Zicken, regelmäßig "nur" gründlich gereinigt und bisschen geölt, mitwirkt. Zurzeit kann ich sagen, dass ich es nicht bereue, sie mir angeschafft zu haben: Das erste Teil ist nämlich fertig gestellt und gut gelungen!
