H7 Volvo C30 D2 2012. Brilliant upgrade.
Ok first thing to say is that nowhere did it say these are Canbus error free so I was expecting a fault to show.... and it did...On my car that is no big deal. Start the car, error msg "low beam failure" pops up.. press the "ok" button on the stalk and its gone. No engine management light at any time and a one second fix. At some point I will probably buy the philips canbus corrector but at around £30 Im in no rush. Next the important part. Performance. Very very easy to fit.. bulbs have instant start up when switched on. The beam pattern is identical to the nightbreaker bulbs they replaced as far as I see. My car has projector headlights. The beam spread is more even and solid to my eyes. Driving with them is an altogether better experience over halogens. They light up road signs without the reflected glare of halogens. They illuminate the road in a more effective way for me. They dont appear "brighter" than halogens on the road surface but the white beam colour is far better at picking out what you need to see in my opinion. Its easier on the eyes. The cut off on the beam is spot on and no way a problem for oncoming drivers. My headlights look great and these bulbs have transformed my car to looking more modern and clean. If they last the 1500 hours promised they are well worth the money over nightbreakers. I shall be buying the H9 for main beams next. Yes I know they are not "road legal" in the UK .. and if they were in anyway inferior to halogens or posed a problem for blinding other drivers they would go. They dont.. they work brilliantly.. they are better than halogen and for me represent a safer drive. I will switch them out at MOT time. I have not driven them in rain or snow as yet but expect they will deliver the same quality performance.

Brilliant plug & play headlights
Was initially skeptical given the general negativity on retrofit LED headlight bulbs. Turns out they work brilliantly on a 2017 Renault Zoe ZE40, notorious for pathetically dim halogen headlights despite being a relatively new EV. These H7 bulbs work great in the car's projector headlight housings, throwing out crisp white light that actually lights up the road ahead. My projector lenses also keep the factory beam patterns so I do not blind oncoming traffic. Installation is dead simple. Literally plug & play in replacement of the original H7 halogen bulbs with no modifications or workarounds needed at all. Downside to these keeping the H7 bulb shape/size is that they do not get as bright as the other LED bulbs that are physically larger and sometimes come with bulky heatsinks. But from 2 months' use (Oct - Nov), I found them to be perfectly adequate for general road use. My car does not have any canbus or electrical system checks for its exterior bulbs so bulb errors is not a problem for me, and I cannot comment on these bulbs' error prevention or canbus circumvention ability.

Compatible and bright enough but not supernova - just the ticket
I researched for a couple of years before finding these replacement headlamp bulbs - it seemed to me that almost every other example was designed for massive brightness at the expense of compatibility. These bulbs, however, plugged straight into my campervan and.. hey presto... I can actually see the road at night! I haven't had any warnings pop up (my camper is based on a 2021 Fiat Ducato chassis). I've now completed a reasonable mileage in hours of darkness and haven't been flashed once by an oncoming motorist, suggesting that the light distribution from these LED bulbs is pretty much correct. They are expensive, for sure - and I needed four - but now I feel much safer because I have a reasonable view of the road ahead. The MOT is due in late May and this might throw up an issue - but, based on my experience so far, I don't think that will be the case. If it does, I will try to amend this review.

An excellent easy upgrade
Easy direct replacement of original lamp, good light out put, far better than stock but with excellent beam pattern and a much better colour temperature than filament lamps. Despite being slightly larger, they fitted my units with no issue. Would highly recommend as an upgrade to very modern looking and function lighting to any older lamp type units. I have OBD lamp failer detection on my vehicle and no errors after 6 weeks of use. I have also used the H4 units with the same success.

Fail in months - terrible
Pros : good fit (exactly the same dimensions as a regular H7 bulb) so no issues with fitting into the housing. Good beam quality and brightness. Cons : I noticed the beam on the road seemed to have darker areas after a few months. Turned out some of the LED chips have failed. Each bulb has two chips. One each side. On one of my bulbs one side has gained completely - no light at all. On the other, one side has failed partially with maybe 10% of the light output of the functional side. In short - garbage. Failed after 4 months / less than approx 100 hours use.

Great upgrade from halogen !!
If you still have the halogen bulbs in your car do yourself a favour and buy a pair of these bulbs, they are road legal and seem ok for MOT,s . The difference is staggering, you won't be disapointed in the extra light it gives out. So far I've fitted these Philips bulbs on 4 if my families cars ,and every one is impressed with the bulb light output.

Bright, but with CANbus error
Amazing bright white light and a huge improvement from standard bulbs in a 2011 Audi A3. Easy to fit and at least initially no CANbus errors, but after just a couple of weeks every time I start the car I get a CANbus error, despite the bulbs still functioning. I’ll have to remove and return, which is a pity because the upgrade to nighttime visibility was excellent.

Would be perfect but for ...
Would be a 5 but for .... CAN-Bus Issue The Upgrade: I recently upgraded the H7 dipped beam halogen bulbs on my 2005 Porsche 997.1 to the new Philips Ultinon Access LED bulbs (H7). * Purchase Context: Although a pricier option, these were bought on the basis of being a direct plug-and-play replacement for halogens. I noted that Philips markets some of its LED retrofits (like the Pro6000 series) as being road-approved for use in Germany (ABG approval), indicating a focus on compatibility/ safe beam performance. Performance (The Good News): The light output is excellent, offering a modern, cool white (6000K) look and significantly improving night visibility * The LED light pattern is exactly the same as the halogen bulb. This means oncoming vehicles are not blinded by the dipped beam, (the bain of night time driving,) while light penetrates much further down the road. Compatibility (The Catch ): The onboard computer OBD is throwing a "Check L dipped beam" and "R dipped beam" warning on the dashboard. This is a classic CAN-Bus error - the highly efficient LED bulbs (approx. 16W) draw significantly less power than the original halogens (approx. 55W). Diagnostic Detail (The "Why"): Warning only triggered when: * Turn the key to the 'ON' (Accessory) position. * Switch headlights ON (before the engine is running). Engine Running then Switch headlights ON (No Warning): Once the engine is started, the system enters normal operating mode. The continuous monitoring of the headlight circuits is reduced or disabled. The LED's current draw is within a broader acceptable range, and fault message is suppressed. In short, the Porsche's OBD is sensitive to the low power draw during its pre-running circuit check. The Solution: Purchase and install a set of H7 LED CAN-Bus Control Units / Load Resistors on both dipped beam circuits. These will add the necessary resistance to fool the sensitive pre-ignition diagnostic check current draw equates same to halogen. Or, Get in a habit starting that 3.6 litre flat-six engine **before** putting headlights on. ;-)

Value and quality
I put these Phillips Ultinon LED H7 globes in my partners 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe. They work a treat. Perfect fit and they don’t upset the computer at all. And the light that comes out of them is brilliant as you can see in the photos. High beam and low beam. Highly recommend these 10/10
