Dear Reader, Amazon is a lovely company. They have huge warehouses full of products and a super-efficient delivery service with tracking and all kinds of things. They have processes for requesting reviews of products which I am sure are very helpful in many cases, but the system is product-agnostic. You may have spent weeks researching your purchase of an expensive pressure washer, a high-tech dishwasher, or a novel concept dog washer for after those muddy walkies in the countryside. However, I doubt you will have spent terribly long researching your next purchase of a washer (a small ring of plastic or rubber designed to make an airtight or watertight seal.) What can I say about this washer that hasn't already been said? Well, it is black, plastic, and ring-like, and is exactly the size it is supposed to be according to the description. Whether or not it works as described is not something I can tell you yet. You see, the old washer on the hose for the washing machine was brittle and leaking, but I found an old hose in the back of the garage with a similar washer, and so swapped that in instead. Seems to be holding for now. When it fails I will use one of the five replacement washers I have just purchased, and at that point I will be able to write a review for Amazon either telling you what a stellar job the little ring of black plastic is doing at keeping my kitchen from turning into a swimming pool, or letting you know not to waste your hard-earned 75p on this heap of crap. Only time will tell what I write. For the moment, somewhere in a small plastic bag in the box in which I keep odds and ends for plumbing things, are these five small gauze black-plastic washers, just ready eager and waiting to leap into action.

Fast next day delivery, but were too wide, more like an Inch than 3/4in. Needed for a shower, so will have to cut them down, probably suitable for washing machine hoses. My plumber son-in-law has told me I need 1/2”, even though the measurement is 3/4”, he went on to try and explain BSP, but lost me. Good solid and thick rubber product though. Would buy 1/2” version next time

did not fit my shower hose, too big, I cut the mesh part and attached to existing washer. no biggy.job done
