Heavy-Duty Magnetic Door Catch - 90lb

These magnetic door catches are great !!! I bought a 90 pounder to keep my picket fence gate closed and when I installed it I found that it was too strong a pull to open the gate. So, I just ordered a 60 pounder. I would highly recommend them. They are easy to install and because they come in various strengths, the have a multitude of different uses.

Using these on 7 different deer stats on my property. Work excellent. VERY strong!!!!!

I replaced the latch on my garage-to-house door with a roller ball so if hands are filled with packages it's easy to just push the door open. But on windy days the roller ball won't always hold the door closed. These monster magnets are inconspicuous and do an excellent job of keeping the door tightly shut.

I installed this on my outdoor screen door, to stop it from blowing open from the wind. 90lb is too strong actually based on where I installed it (at the top of the door, out of eye-sight. I should have chosen the 45lb option. To address this, I installed it a few millimeters deeper, so the plate does not fully engage the magnet, which makes it essentially a 50lb pull.

I bought these to keep a sliding door closed after our cat figured out how to open it on his own. Rather than using them in a traditional cabinet-door application, I mounted them at the top of the door and set them up so they would engage as the door slid shut. The good news is they ultimately solved the problem and are holding the door closed. The downside is that the included screws seem to have heads that protrude slightly too much. In my installation, the catch is actually holding because it's catching on the screw head rather than relying entirely on the magnetic force. Because of that, the operation isn't quite as smooth or clean as I expected. That said, I realize I'm using the product in a somewhat unconventional way, so this may not be an issue for everyone. The magnets themselves seem reasonably strong, the finish looks good, and installation was straightforward. If you're using these in a standard cabinet or door application, you'll probably be perfectly happy. If you're planning a custom installation like I did, you may want to pay close attention to screw placement and hardware clearance.

Works very well on a home made gate to the kitchen

Got this to replace a proprietary auto close hinged that broke but was cemented in as door wouldn’t close and replacement soft /auto close wouldn’t fit. This went in easily and hole shape made it easy to adjust. Read that the screws strip easily so I used my own for starters so can’t comment on screws.

I put this on my screen door that always stayed a jar and bugs were getting in put this magnet. There keeps the door tightly shut now.

More like 0.4kg pull force. Can remove latch plate with fingers. No tools or mechanical leverage needed. Garbage. Do not buy.

Great item. Magnet really works well. The most important thing to remember is to install it parallel well to one another. It worked that way. Maybe a bit of an angle is acceptable. But this worked out well on my screen door safely. Good stuff.

These really are heavy duty! Excellent quality, easy to fit, and the doors stay closed now.

Nice, strong magnet. Worked great for my pesky cellar door. Easy to open and close now. Simple installation too
