Duncan Hines Lemon Supreme Flavored Cake Mix, 15.25 oz.

Sometimes, you just want/need something sweet without making it from scratch. That is where this Duncan Hines box mix comes in handy. Simply add oil, water and eggs and you are on your way to cake. I was impressed with 1) how moist and fluffy the crumb was; and 2) how much it reminded me of a homemade cake. It was springing! I love lemon desserts. This cake mix had a balanced flavor. It did not taste artificial at all. It tasted lemony as is, but of course you can punch up the lemon flavor with some lemon zest or a little lemon juice. I frosted the layered cake. I always make a little “tester” cake in my 6-inch cast iron skillet to eat right away while the main cake is cooling. You know, something, something fat kid loving cake. The cake was very good on its own as well. A box of cake mix for under $1.50, you say? Yes, please! I will be adding a box or two to my pantry. Yum!

This is my favorite lemon boxed cake mix. It has a fresh, bright lemon flavor. I use the mix to make lemon muffins and add white chocolate chips which is a wonderful taste combination. Also, it is still 15.25 oz. while most other manufacturers have shrunk their mixes to about 13 ounces. It also can be used to make lemon pound cake which is so good. Definitely recommend.

For a lemon box cake I think it does well, I think it has a good lemon flavor. And I like it better than Betty Crocker’s lemon cake.

I used these to make Italian style lemon cakes (add some lemon rind) for my son's wedding reception. Superb!

The lemon cake mix is delicious. I never bake and this was as easy as pie (or cake?😉). The only modifications I did to the mix was add a tablespoon of lemon peel and the juice of two small lemons. I put the lemon juice in my measuring cup first, and then measured the rest of the water as instructed. Nothing fancy, just mixed it, filled the pan and voila! Came out fluffy, spongy and delicious. As for flavor, It’s not overly sweet. I am glad I added the lemon juice. It went perfect with a lemon curd filling in between cake layers. This made enough for a 6 inch two tiered heart cake.
