A magnificent achievement. Full of facts. Excellent illustrations. In my view an essential acquisition for anyone with a serious interest in the history of postage stamps, and their current status worldwide.

I bought this as a non stamp collector as a gift. It seems to be comprehensive, covering the history of the postage stamp and even how to store and mount stamps in an album. It advises on starting a collection and is copiously illustrated. Hopefully it will be well received.

Comprehensive book with plenty of information for stamp collectors and I would recommend this to any novice stamp collector!

This is a great reference for a beginning stamp collector, primarily one who is interested in collecting US stamps of all kinds. The information would be good for children who are getting into stamp collecting because there are lots of color photos and simple topics and text to accompany each section. More information is included about US stamps than any other country. Because there is a very general overview of stamps, there is not enough in-depth material for more serious stamp collectors. I was looking for more information on basics such as tools and techniques and housing the collection which was covered only briefly.

This item is EXACTLY the same book as The World Encyclopedia of Stamps & Stamp Collecting by the same author EXCEPT this is a much larger format - both text & images & is a paperback as opposed to the hard cover of the "Encyclopedia'. This costs more than the 'Encyclopedia' but you may find it is worth it if you like a larger version.

This is a great overview of stamps. It has a prodigious amount of excellent photos. The country-by-country pages give a brief historical overview of the country or region, and has photos of some of the region's more significant stamps. This book is well-written, informative, and entertaining.
