Keeps 100 gallon trough toasty!
100 gallon horse trough toasty in 16°F! Have been using these for years with an outlet timer set to go on when temps hit freezing. Horses drink water to stay warm so are well hydrated, and happy drinkers mean less chance of colic. I often catch them standing around the trough feeling the steam rise up. They do add some $ to the power bill but well worth it. These last and last, my oldest one is 6 years old and works perfectly - even stood up to a few mouthy horses pulling them out of the trough by the cord (you can always add some PVC or old garden hose, or keep under a heavy plant pot if you have ones that like to pull it out) A bit pricier than some others, but they are the best and most durable heaters I've tried.

This heater has lasted 4 years!
I've had this heater for 4 years now and it's still working great! Last week we upgraded our chickens watering system from a 5 gal bucket to a 12 gallon. When I removed the heater I expected it to look rusted or old due to its age and the fact that it has been run 24/7 for 4 winters. It showed no signs of age and is rust resistant! I was pleasantly surprised that it does a great job heating the 12 gallons! The best part about it is you just place it in the tank and plug it in! So easy!

Works great, but use caution with goats
Last winter I had to fill up buckets of hot water from my bathtub and tote it to the goat shed every morning and night. Not fun! With this heater all I need to do is turn it on and wait about 5 to 10 minutes, then the water is steamy & warm. I turn it off and reheat throughout the day as needed. Since goats will chew everything, you need to wrap the cord in a cord protector. I bought this cord protector here on Amazon, here’s the link. Kept water too warm
This is advertised for a 5 gallon bucket. I had this in a 30 gallon and 20 gallon waterer for our chickens. The water never froze but was like bath water. Way to warm. The electric cost was pretty high also. We swapped to a lower wattage smaller heaters for our waterers.

5 stars
I did not keep this product it did not fit in my barrel. But I will give 5 stars for customer service quality of packaging and quality of the heater. Looked solid, looked like a great quality. I'm sure it heats and works awesome, easy to use drop in bucket and plug in

Works as it should!
These are great fir a 55 gallon barrel! I even have one in a 275 gallon tote and it will not freeze in single digit weather. I will suggest a thermostatic control for them though because the shut off temp is 100 deg. I set the controller to 60 and they work perfectly.

Works well, good design.
Works well for our purpose. These are designed to heat only a 5 gallon bucket, but we needed something to pre-heat a 55 gallon drum of water for use when making up a chemical that must be dissolved in relatively warm water. The heater gets the barrel of cold water heated well within a day, and that works for us. Note that we only use this to heat clean water! We then pump that warmed water into a different container where we mix the chemical in question. The unit appears to dissipate the stated 1000 Watts, based on the rate of temperature rise in our 55 gallons of water. Obviously, in a 5 gallon bucket, for which this unit is designed, the 5 gallons would be heated much more quickly. In any case, the thermostat works well, maintaining the barrel at the stated temperature range of around 110°F even if we leave it running for a long time. And this would be handy in a bucket as well, preventing the water from getting too hot, and maintaining it at that luke-warm temperature even if you walked off and forgot about it. I do advise removing this heater from water when you are not using it, however, because the aluminum begins to corrode very quickly, so it might not last very long if left in water constantly. This is common for aluminum exposed to water for long periods, and is to be expected. Still, buyers should be aware that this is probably not an item that you should just leave in water constantly. It's not a pond/stock-tank de-icer that you would leave in the tank/pond continuously. The design of the unit holds the heated area away from the bucket/barrel surfaces to prevent it from melting a plastic bucket. The spacers also allow for good convection of the water around the heater to let it transfer its heat to the water efficiently.

didn't work
we tried to use it to heat a tank of water. It simply would not heat water. maybe it needs to be extremely cold to turn on. I don't know but it didn't work at all. now it's too late to return it.

I had been using the same manufactured heater with lesser wattage (250w) but they kept stopped working and only lasted one season. Bought this 1000w one because our winters can be well into the minus 20's C. As it turned out we've had an unusually mild winter and my only complaint is that the water in my insulated tank is like soup. I have to unplug it on warm days of course but sure doesn't let the water freeze. Next time I think I'd get a 750w. But very happy with it. Horses leave it alone and it works well.

Tested it with the coldest water coming out from the tap in a "full" tub. Overnight, by morning the water's perfectly warm for a comfortable bath. A perfect and safe solution as there is no need to worry about the water boiling. The couple that needed this only had reliable power from their stove, so I coupled this with an inline EFI/re-settable fuse on a 12AWG cord, and a 50' 300V 1600W outdoor electrical cord 14AWG from HomeDepot. The heater's rating is 1000W, 120V, 8.33A, 14.4 ohms per a call to the factory.

Bought this to heat up my son’s swimming pool. Did an amazing job of heating it up to 30°. Better than anything i have tried. So it must work in winter for water dishes 😆

The heater works and does get warm to the touch, but definately takes a while to warm up a 12ft pool, but does work.

This is working amazingly. It really heats the water relatively quickly to have a very hot shower, it steams up my bathroom with the exhaust fan on. I am using this in my cottage as I drain the water lines in the winter but am staying up north and needed a solution.
