These things are really great. Tension is adjustable. simple yet truly effective. Closes doors with precise consistent redundancy. I also installed a set of self-locking gate latches on all three of my porch and ramp gates with these at the same time, now I don't have to worry about my escape expert, neighborhood roaming AMSTAFF sneaking off to visit everyone in the community, after getting out of the door and then on the loose because someone forgot to shut a gate. BEST money I have ever spent. THEY WORK. I give them my greatest possible endorsement. A MUST have for anyone who has toddlers or pets that want to roam free! Combined with the right locking devices, they are impossible to live without, once you try them!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already ordered 3 of these for all my gates and they work great. The spring is strong,the gate closes smoothly,and installation was very easy. Good quality hardware and adjustable tension makes it simple to set up exactly how you want. I’m adding photos and video because this product honestly exceeded my expectations for the price. Definitely recommend if you want a reliable self-closing gate spring.

Fit perfectly on my home made wooden gate. Gate closes and latches smoothly. The tension is adjustable, the gate closes smoothly without violently banging closed.

Could use some better instructions on how the tension aspect works, but luckily I figured it out. I'm not 100% sure I put the tension pin in right, but it seems to be holding and nothing has broken. We broke one screw because we put this on a metal fence and gate, even drilled first. Luckily no one got hurt, but my dad was drilling and I was holding the spring. I could have gotten hurt badly, but luckily it didn't happen. It was hard to brace metal on metal. With some tinkering we figured it out. We ended up using a left over tech screw we had and honestly that is what needs to be addrd to this kit. So if you have any metal you're adding this to, I'd suggest trying tech screws, instead of the ones included. Overall this works well, isn't too aggressive about closing the gate (but does close it) and looks nice. I'd buy it again.

Only place 5 stars so this is seen. One star! Screw provided don’t work with instructions of 7/64” drill pipe. You need a #8 screw. In addition, holes not drilled thru or deep enough for locking pin to be secured. Pin flys out once tension is applied and gate is opened. Horrible design front start to finish!

After less than 30 days of use on my wood fence (the gate is opened/used at most twice a week) the spring gave out and lost its shape. The screws that were provided started to rust in less than 30 days of being exposed to the elements and it’s not even rain season in South Florida.

If you have a dog this is a lifesaver

This item is a piece of junk. Do not buy this. Too much tension when opening and not enough to close gate completely. Adjustment did not help. This thing also chews up the wood of the gate. It will slam it shut violently and then the gate bounces back open and does not close the latching mechanism. I would give this zero stars if I could. Waste of my time and money.

Great product actually installed it on 3 chain link fence gates after trying multiple other products that simply didn't work. I improvised but the end result worked on all my gates. Cheaper then others since you get two units per order.
