This holds about 1/4 lb of sawdust, so I would expect 18 hours of cold smoke

whats the best wood to use for salmon?

I use oak and cherry for salmon. My salmon is amazing quite frankly and always a hit at catered events. The process is more important than the wood. 24hr brine 24hr pelicile 4hr cook. Starting at 145⁰ to 175⁰

Wondering if anyone has used this in a weber smokey mountain and had good results ?

I have used this in a master built smoker but to get it to work I removed the wood supply cup so air can easily enter

Do you pack the sawdust in or keep it loose?

You do not need to pack it, I pour it higher than the edges then using a ruler or something with a straight edge, screed it flat
