CIARRA Portable Range Hood, 2-Speed Desktop Kitchen Exhaust Fan

I don't even trust a wall mounted hood to catch all of the smoke and be cleaned completely. And a wall mounted hood is loud! So this little machine is quiet. I had to make sure it is running. It's the buyer's job to make sure the smoking surface does not greatly exceed the hood's diameter, a limitation for any kind of hood. So, make sure your smoking surface is not more than 7". That's the true limitation for this machine. Otherwise, if you diligently follow the cleaning instruction and clean the filters every time you use it, it's a machine that works great: (1) You see that the filters are greasy (2) There is oil deposit in the cup (I didn't expect as much oil deposit as it managed to gather). For a 7" pan or pot, I think it works better than a wall mounted hood probably because you can place it very close to the smoking surface.

When a vented-ducted one won't work for one reason or another, this is the one to get. Not too sure how to replace or clean the filter, it's not covered nor discussed at all. Booklet instructions are not too understandable, quite minimalistic.

The unit is quite loud, even on the lower fan setting. Unfortunately, the filter does not seem to work effectively. There is noticeable oil buildup on the back of the fan, indicating that grease is not being properly trapped. Additionally, the oil collection cup is poorly designed; it's difficult to remove and even harder to clean. While the concept is good for small indoor setups, the overall functionality and maintenance issues make it hard to recommend.

I don't have any exhaust system in my kitchen, so this keeps the smoke alarm from going off.

Excellent portable stove top exhaust. Compact, beautifully designed, and definitely a must have if you do not have a stove top exhaust fan. I love it!

Happy with Product

It sucks in a small amount of oil and very little odor.

I wish there were a zero-star level. This thing captures less than 10% of the smoke from a medium skillet, and the filters barely slow the grease down for a moment before the fan blows it all over the house. This is the first time I feel completely scammed by a product from Amazon.

I have this for 2 weeks now. It inhales the smoke on high (green light) but I have yet to see any oil collected yet. And I have been actively using it everday just to test and recommend to other non-rangehood owners. I will update some more if anything changes edit: 4 months later, still no grease collected, just inhales still which still isn't too bad. but would like some grease collected to prove that its actually working
