During a recent AC compressor overhaul, I purchased this 5µF capacitor as part of a proactive component refresh. I also installed a **dual-run capacitor** rated for both the compressor and fan circuits, anticipating the need for a separate fan capacitor alongside the new condenser fan motor. The 5µF unit arrived quickly, packaged securely with no terminal damage. The aluminum housing was solid, terminals spaced well, and the labeling was clear—ideal for quick identification during install prep. However, the fan motor I ended up installing had a **built-in capacitor**, which meant I didn’t need this standalone part. Instead, I wired the motor directly into the dual-run capacitor using the standard C, FAN, and HERM terminal layout. This worked flawlessly and simplified the system wiring. That’s the key takeaway for buyers: newer fan motors often include internal capacitors, so before sourcing a separate one, check your motor’s spec label or wiring diagram. If your system uses an older motor, this 5µF capacitor appears reliable and well-suited for run/start support. Even though it was returned unused, the build quality and delivery experience made a positive impression. If I were working on a legacy unit again—or troubleshooting a standalone fan circuit—this would be on my shortlist

13 months old and failed. 5uf @ 440v on a 220v motor as starter cap. Capacitor failed internally and now reads 387nf. I was expecting much longer life. Update, after contacting YellowHat, they responded quickly (less than 24 hours) and replaced the unit. Great customer service.

Got an old Heil HVAC unit. Was in there replacing the blower fan assembly, and checked old capacitor's rating. Miracle it was still working at all. Swapped it out very simply, this was the form factor, capacitance, and voltage rating that I needed. If you have 2 wires going to a capacitor that has these same ratings, then go for it!
