Teaching Grammar in Context

This book is exactly the refreshing approach to grammar that I needed. The book is well researched, and its findings are continually corroborated by more recent studies. I feel that the ideas in this approach truly empower students and provide teachers with techniques that actually work. If you teach English on the middle or high school level, I highly recommend this book. It will help you make the best choices about incorporating grammar into the curriculum in ways that have lasting effects on students' writing.

Constance makes numerous references to support her positions. The book is not an easy read. With patience and a notepad, I find the book informative.

Constance Weaver is a saint in tackling grammar in the classroom with theories and useful techniques. For language arts or English literature instructors and teachers, this book is a requirement in understanding and the development of reading and writing skills.This book is not for everybody's taste. For those teachers who are struggling in teaching grammar in the classroom, this book can help clarify answers to several questions about grammatical instruction.

I've not finished it yet, but so far, this book is very insightful into many things vital to the grammar learning of students. A little dry at times, this book, however, helps one to understand issues with grammar as it pertains to student learning.

If you are looking for a book to help explain why teaching grammar in context is important, this is a good book. I wanted a few more examples in it. I found it paired nicely with The Grammar Plan Book (Weaver) and Mechanically Inclined.

I had to get this book for a class in college and it's so practical and really quite interesting. I'm impressed with Constance Weaver and all that she's included in this book. I was able to afford it and it's a must for my library as English is my degree pursuit.

Mrs. Nielson, here. As an English teacher I find this book to be an excellent tool. It's highly effective for the target audience ESL students, but it is also a great tool for first language English speakers. Highly recommend for anyone who needs to teach English to non-native or native speakers.

I felt I was reading someone's dissertation, but if I skimmed to later in the book, there was useful information. Just not a friendly read. I know others who think this is the holy grail of how to teach grammar. I will try some suggestions and make a decision.
