3 year update: Solid
I bought it in very good condition, bought it in 2022. Literally have never had any issues with it at all. Connected great to my hisense tv, cell phone, laptop, no lagging issues either. The only thing I had a difficulty with was changing the wifi password, but that could be more of me just nit understanding the instructions lol.

LAN and WAN speed full tilt.
I have previously owned an Arris modem/router, the SBG10 was fine for my needs until my ISP gave a speed increase to my bandwidth tier. It was kind of upsetting because I only got a year out of the box, but alas, no sense in not utilizing all of my bandwidth. I've had the 7400 up for about a month now and have had zero issues. My Ethernet is fully saturated with this thing. The package arrived nicely, everything was in the box. Setup was easy, barely had to read the directions. Definitely pick this up if it's suitable for your speed tier, as it sure beats the pants off of paying Xfinity $14/month to rent their modem indefinitely. I know folks who have been leasing the Xfinity equipment for 5 years. That's almost a grand... Do yourself a favor and pick this up.

Works great, lousy install instructions cost 1 star
I was replacing an older modem separate router setup max speed measured was 150Mbps at 5G and 72Mbps at 2.4 G. We have Time Warner / Spectrum service. I made the connections according to the instructions for setup for the new Arris Surfboard by Ethernet cable but I wasn't able to connect to the internet. I called tech support for Arris and was on hold for 75 minutes. They told me that I have to contact my service ( TW / Spec ) and activate the modem first, then call them for help. The instructions that came with the modem did not say that in the setup instructions at all. Even the guy on the phone said " Yeah, we missed that part" Called TW / Spect next on hold again....you know how that feels...recorded message..Your call is important to us, please stay on the line....etc...finally got thru and they sent the activate signal for the new Arris to work That was the bad part......BOOOOO....cost Arris a star Good part now....Setup using the ethernet cable connection to a laptop Win 7 got into the menu using 192.168.0.1 default login is admin PW password and was able to continue the setup from there for 2.4 and 5 G home networks I down loaded an app Wifi Analytics from Netgear ( free) and was able to measure Wireless signal strength all over the house and patio. MUCH MUCH better with before and after tests Example.. 5G on patio was 6 Mbps before, now 117Mbps with Arris. All signals throughout the house much better and stronger, connections speeds at 5G much better depending on the room ( distance ) and walls in the way speeds are 390 Mbps to 865 Mbps now The Netgear app has a house measure feature with allows you to go room to room and measure signals and speeds so you can map your house and place the Arris in the best spot for results. Hint for setup...download to your cell or tablet an app that lets you measure signals and speed for Wifi, this will really help you and measure your signals before you make a change so you know how much improvement you get...or not... Next...after you connect your Arris Surfboard to your service provider call them and have them send the activate signal so you can get started on the rest of the setup. After setup is finished and working...go back and remeasure all the signals in the same spot as before you started...so you can see the difference

no problems
Easy enough to setup if you are familiar with tech...it auto connected to Xfinity and worked. I used both the web interface and app; both seem required. Be aware there are some weird things, for instance it auto-changed my password to some random one and I found it only through the app, where I reset it (again and its held). Been going strong for 4 days now, maybe took 20 minutes to setup. I never had to reset it to factory or call anybody's tech support, so that's a good thing as far as it's setup, too. It does not have a remote/WAN access entry !

PRESS THE WPS BUTTON ON THE FRONT OF THE SURFBOARD!!!!!!!
Initially, I couldn't activate the device. The Xfinity app was not able to detect the modem. When I called Xfinity, the automated service told me that my modem was off, which was not true. I called Arris support. We tried a few different things, but still the Xfinity app could not connect to the modem. That's when i made an appointment with Xfinity for the next day. The next day I took a look at the device again before my appointment and noticed a WPS button, NOWHERE in the setup instructions did it mentioned to press that button (only showed button on diagram). Well I pressed the button and the Xfinity app recognized the modem right away. Other, than that issue the Surfboard works great.

Do NOT buy this if you play online games
I purchased this to keep from having to pay rental fees on equipment. I bought this in August of 2021. It was easy to install and get up and running with Spectrum. Signal and speeds were great. Fast forward to a month ago and suddenly I started getting random disconnects from Guild Wars 2. It was happening at terrible times and wasting a lot of my time. I initially thought it was the game servers and other people had hit different bugs so I contacted their support. At the same time, I decided to research the router and Spectrum and discovered there's a faulty chipset, Intel's Puma 6&7, in these products that causes this exact problem. I'm not technical enough to know how to explain it but the effect is every 10-15 minutes, my whole internet connection would drop for 10-30 seconds and then go back to being fine. Normal use and streaming services have buffers so you wouldn't normally notice the issue but when you have to maintain connection to a game server, it causes incredibly frustrating issues. I got a modem and router from Spectrum and miraculously, my connection is rock solid again. I'm contacting Arris to try and get a refund and will update this review with their response.

Great modem & router but be aware of this issue with Comcast
With regards to the modem and router itself I couldn't be happier. Easy install and excellent speeds. Much faster than Comcast's modem. However, if you are buying this to replace a Comcast Xfinity modem be aware that if you signed up for the "Triple Play" bundle from them that includes TV, internet, and phone service because it was cheaper than bundles without the phone (inexplicably) they will not allow you to return their modem and have the modem rental fee taken off your bill because this Arris modem does not support phone. Even if you never hooked up or used a phone with their modem. Since it is typically a 1 or 2 year contract you sign with them you have to wait until that contract is up before you can rework your plan to not include phone service and then you can return their modem and have the rental fee removed. Arris makes another modem that does support phone from Comcast but it is considerably more expensive.
