136 Portable Radio

Great little radio. Good reception on AM and FM, and sounds good for its size. I use it everyday. I decided to use the barrel jack power port on the side with a 4.5v adapter to eliminate the inside power transformers radio noise while listening to AM. Little did I know that the barrel jack would try to charge the batteries inside the unit. I picked the radio up and noticed it was warm. I unplugged it and opened the battery door. I put a piece of paper towel in the back to keep the battery door from buzzing while playing music, and a good thing I did. The batteries were warm and spraying an oily substance all over the battery compartment. I heard a hissing noise coming out of them, so I rushed outside and flung them into the snow. I didn't read anywhere in the instructions that the little port on the side was for charging. Great little radio, but just be aware to remove the batteries inside of it if using a external power adapter in the 4.5v port.

Better built than expected, it’s small but powerful speakers feels like good quality very sturdy base good value price.

Great item for my 89 yr mom who doesn’t do the technology thing. This was the best and easy product for her to be able to listen and enjoy her church music on Sundays without any issues. It’s simple and yet very effective. Highly recommend because some people especially elderly are afraid to even touch electronics today. 👍🏾

First, I don't know if it's a typo or an error but, where this radio is compared to other similar radios it is given a 4.7 for "sound quality". This radio has nowhere near that good of sound, I would give it a 4.1. The radio has a tendency to be "wavey" when it's not picking up a station fully. What I mean by "wavey" is volume fluctuates between higher and lower. The sound is okay for it's size but, nothing great. The higher the volume goes the higher the pitch of the speaker is and for me it hurts the ears. The radio does have a nice look to it, several people at work actually thought it was a vintage radio. In my opinion it's better to pay a little more and get a better radio than this one. UPDATE: Prunus contacted me about the model136 the day after I left this review. They contacted me through Amazon and wanted to talk to me about my low review to see if anything could be done to make me satisfied. I was very surprised to hear from them especially that quick. This truly shows that they care about their products as well as CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm still returning this because of the weak sounding speaker but I'm going to give them another star, from 3 to 4 because they're a company that CARES about their customers and products.

This radio is a convenient size and I appreciate the fact that you can plug it in the wall or use batteries. You can take it anywhere! The sound quality is good. I enjoy using it every day.
