Love it! I bought this as a gift for my neighbor. He loves dragons, loves to sketch, and is older. I thought was the perfect gift for him and I was right. He loved it! Yes, it smells but it's that authentic leather smell. Yes, the paper has some stains from the leather but again... that's what makes it authentic. These are handmade so they aren't going to be perfectly stitched and bound like a machine but they are beautifully put together handmade journals that are sturdy. The paper is a great thickness for sketching was the perfect gift for my older retired marine neighbor.

After looking at tons of embossed leather journals on Amazon, and reading reviews of products that looked nothing like the store's provided images, I was worried when I place this order. Even though I knew I didn't want to spend more than $20, I still wanted a quality journal! Upon opening the package, I caught a slight scent of a leather tannery, and as I slid the journal out and saw the deep indentations of the dragon on the leather, my worries faded away! This journal looks just like the pictures, and it feels like a good quality leather, thick and supple! Word of warning though: the handmade paper is very textured, which makes precise sketching difficult. The paper is also deceptively thick, since it depresses easily, I don't think I'll be able to use both sides. Additionally, for the perfectionists out there, there was a leather stain mark on the first page and there are small gaps between the page bindings. To me however, these details were all part of the handmade charm of this item, and altogether, this was exactly what I was looking for!

So if you are looking for some high tech manufactured book to journal from... this ain't it. I personally like this book. It is hand made and for those of you who can make one... you know how much work it requires. The leather is real. The paper is real and recycled which means as long as you take care of this book, it will last a very long time. no bindings to rot. My suggestion... after a while put some mink oil on it and buff it up. Cleans up nicely and will condition the leather. Just like boots or your sofa, condition the leather every once in a while and it will be very nice much longer than the commercial mass produced books you get in book stores AND ITS A FRACTION of the price.

I've seen a few reviews on here saying they painted the stones with nail polish. I didn't understand it until I received mine. Although beautiful, all three stones were basically the same yellowish color. I painted the top and bottom one. I also thought it would be larger. However, I love the paper quality and the feel of the journal. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.

The journal is super cute and I love almost everything about it. If you're using it to write in or sketch, it'd be perfect for you! However I was using it to make a scrapbook for my partner, and the thickness makes it impossible to close the clasp now, but that's on me for not considering that lol just warning anyone who wants to use it to scrap! I love the paper quality and the leather binding, whether its faux or not, is very durable and aesthetically pleasing.

Very well made and perfect size for journalling. Everything about this journal seems exceptional from the leather tooling to the clasp, to the binding and quality of the paper! Would look forward to a deckle edged version but this is something I love to write in and is inspiring to use!

PERFECT! I am a regular amazon user. I’ve had the pleasure to try all sorts of products from , sold , or from third party. This item was a good price. The material lives up to its description. I even love the smell which goes with that old book look. I didn’t count the pages because I love it. From the look it’s enough pages for me. I did paint the top jewel black. So that it wouldn’t be two pink stones. Another review said the same thing. So I followed her advice.

My husband bought me this for our paper anniversary because I had it saved. I love the look of it and the pages are sewn in and the leather work is beautiful, but there are a couple of faults. The latches seem very loose like they will fall off easily and then there is the stone... The reason I saved this journal. Because in the picture, it looks like a fiery orange and that's what caught my eye. So you can imagine, when I opened it and it was a very dull, cloudy yellow. Like plastic topaz. Lucky for me, that is my birthstone, otherwise, I would have been upset. Still not as advertised.

Very nicely put together. It has the vintage style with the modern craftsmanship. I was shocked in a good way as to how beautiful this notebook truly is. I recommend this to anyone!!

I purchased several versions of these leather journals and while all of them were very nice, this is my personal favorite. The stones are bright and colourful and really « pop »! This brand takes a bit longer to arrive than some of the others that are available, but if you have time this one is worth the wait.

Ladies and gents and they/thems, if you are looking for a perfect notebook/book of shadows this is for you. It’s handmade, real leather, pages are amazing quality. Love it so much

Great quality for the price and easy to use with quill and ink. Which is perfect for one of my D&D character's spell books. The only issue I have is that one of the closers wasn't finished off properly and need to be ground down to make less rough however it's still functional even if you don't grind it down
