Crucial X9 4TB Portable External SSD - Up to 1050MB/s, External Solid State Drive, Works with PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Mac, USB-C 3.2 - CT4000X9SSD902

I’ve been really happy with this external SSD. I mainly bought it to back up my important files, and it’s been reliable ever since. The 4TB capacity is more than enough for what I need. I’ve partitioned mine so that 1TB is dedicated to Time Machine backups on my MacBook, while the rest is used for storing photos and football videos. One of the best things about it is how small and lightweight it is. It’s incredibly portable, so it’s easy to carry around in a bag or even a pocket without taking up much space. The transfer speeds are excellent. Backing up large files is quick, and when I plug it into my MacBook, it only takes a few seconds before it’s recognised and Time Machine starts backing up automatically. That’s made backing up my data really convenient. The drive comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, which is all I needed for my MacBook. The only minor downside is that the cable is quite short. If you’re using the drive away from a desk, it can leave the SSD hanging awkwardly, so I would have preferred a slightly longer cable.Mine arrived with a very small mark on the back, but it was only cosmetic and hasn’t affected the performance at all. It also includes access to some Adobe software offers, which is a nice extra, although I haven’t personally used them. It’s also compatible with modern USB-C devices, including newer iPhones, which makes it even more versatile.Overall, this has been a fast, reliable, and compact SSD that gives me peace of mind knowing my files are backed up safely. It’s definitely an expensive purchase, but considering the speed, storage capacity, and portability, I think it’s well worth it.Gaming note: I haven’t personally used it for gaming, but because of its fast SSD speeds it should work well for storing and running games on supported devices, depending on the console or computer you’re using.

Absolute dream to use, chain greased lighting when copying, small enough to slip into any pocket, very light as well, feels slightly plasticy, but the speed........ Used with a 2026 iMac, works a treat. Comes with little in the way of instructions, should you need them though there is a QR code on the package but my scanner said not a safe site so never downloaded so cannot comment on quality of the manual. Only other thing in the box is an 8" (20cm) USB C both ends lead.

I've been through my fair share of external hard drives and even a few budget SSDs, but the Crucial X9 1TB is the one that has finally made me stop looking. This little device is nothing short of spectacular, and it has become an indispensable part of my daily tech kit.Blistering Fast Speeds:Let's start with the most important thing: performance. The X9 boasts read speeds up to 1,050 MB/s, and in my real-world testing, it delivers. Transferring a 4GB video file from my laptop takes mere seconds—literally before I can even blink, it's done. Offloading a full 64GB SD card from my camera used to be a coffee-break affair with my old HDD. Now, it's finished in under two minutes. This speed revolutionizes my workflow, whether I'm editing photos directly from the drive or backing up my entire system.Feather-Light and Incredibly Portable:You have to hold this thing to believe it. It’s shockingly small and light—lighter than my car key fob. It slips effortlessly into the smallest pocket of my backpack or even my jeans pocket, making it the perfect travel companion. I never have to think twice about bringing it with me, which means my data is always on hand.Built Like a Tank (Despite its Size):Don't let its lightweight design fool you. The rugged, matte-finish exterior feels premium and durable. It's rated for a 2-meter drop height, which gives me immense peace of mind when it's bouncing around in my bag. I haven't (and don't plan to) test this claim, but it’s reassuring to know it's built to withstand the occasional accident.Universally Compatible & Simple Setup:The setup could not be easier. It’s truly plug-and-play. I’ve used it seamlessly between my Windows PC, my MacBook Pro, my iPad Pro, and even my Android phone (with a simple adapter). The USB-C cable is included and it’s reversible, so no fumbling around. The backwards compatibility with USB 3.0/3.1 means it works with older devices too, just at slightly lower speeds.Perfect For:Creative Professionals: Edit high-res photos and 4K video directly from the drive.Gamers: Expand your console storage with lightning-fast load times.Students & Professionals: Carry entire project libraries and backups without the weight.Everyone: The fastest, most reliable way to back up precious memories and important documents. The Verdict:The Crucial X9 1TB isn't just a product; it's an upgrade to your digital life. It eliminates the waiting and worrying associated with data storage.Pros:Stunningly fast transfer speeds (lives up to its 1050 MB/s claim)Unbelievably small, lightweight, and portableDurable, premium design with drop resistanceFlawless plug-and-play compatibility across all my devicesIncludes a sturdy USB-C to C and a USB-C to A cableCons:Honestly, I'm struggling to find one at this price point and performance level. If you're on the fence, just get it. You will not be disappointed. This is, without a doubt, the best tech purchase I've made this year. Five stars doesn't do it justice

This was much smaller than I expected, about the size of a plug-in memory card reader. So it's very unobtrusive. I use it with a Mac and it feels very, very fast when connected to Thunderbolt, even though it's not the latest Thunderbolt 5. I saw a recommendation to format it in a specific way for Mac, which took less than a minute. So far it has worked flawlessly and feels almost as fast as the built in solid-state drive. It gets ever so slightly warm in use but you'd hardly notice it. I'm pretty happy so far though these things are harldly cheap. If it's reliable, I will be very satisfied indeed – only had it a couple of months so I'm not able to talk about long-term reliability.

Great drive very fast very good small size works with my pc windows 10 does not heat up after hours of use. Nice black colour compatible with all my devices.

Worked perfectly out for the box. Really easy to use and connect using an usb-c port which is really fast. Surprisingly light weight for how much storage there is. I created multiple partitions using windows disk management to have a backup partition as well as a partition to use for DJing. It is fully compatible with both windows and my pioneer DJ equipment

Quality control on these hard drives is atrocious. I've had two fail in the space of 1 year. They aren't cheap either but more importantly I've lost all the data that was contained on them. Twice. They are even more expensive nowadays so I'd advise you do your research. Plenty of posts on the internet complaining about x9s

It's physically tiny and light. It's like a matchbox or something. But yeh it's fast as anything. Using the seek bar on movie files is immediate. Love it.

I bought the Crucial X9 with 2 TB as an external SSD for my laptop and have been very happy with it so far.I was particularly impressed by the combination of speed and compact size. The SSD is nice and small and is easy to carry around. My work files transfer quickly, so I don’t have to wait long for them to copy.It is a bit more expensive than some competing products, but in my opinion, you get a solid SSD from a well-known and reliable brand in return. For me, it was definitely worth buying and

Best and the cheapest till now. The speed is amazing.I hope that micron revert their decision and doesn't stop its production.
