For whatever reason AMAZON prompts the reviewer to characterize the book's PLOT, MOOD, PACE, CHARACTERS.Based on these prompts, I rated this novel on EXCEL and OPERATIONS RESEARCH as "PREDICTABLE" I expected EXCEL and OR and I received it. The formulas and templates consistently produced the same results if provided consistent values.The mood is very NOSTALGIC. The book will make you reminisce of the many long hand or calculator based formulas or pad and pencil sketching you had done in the past - but now, you can do it almost effortlessly in EXCEL.As to PACE, I rated it STEADY - if you are unfamiliar with EXCEL it will provide you a steady foundation for building OR formulas; if you are advanced you can steadily move through and still learn few things.As to CHARACTERS, well, they are all numbers and very ONE DIMENSIONAL, but in spite of, their being so, it is an EXCELLENT BOOK that imparts many analytical skills for long time to come.Thanks AMAZON for your prompts... now I see OR both emotionally and analytically.

Really comprehensive, in a way a perfect tool for understanding business. It has a great qualitative introduction and a clear quantitative approach. I found it to be a very good investment and a great source for the after MBA time.a very good investment.

Good book. Very helpful and teaches one some new "tricks" about Excel. Very solution-driven and practical.

Nice writing style, clear examples. Doesn't come with CD but you can download example workbooks from a Wiley website.
