I Am the Wolf: Lyrics and Writings Review: I’m glad I bought this book. - You know, Mark doesn’t write too much about himself in this book, but that’s just fine by me. We don’t need to know every single detail of our favorite musicians’ lives. I’m glad he shared what he wanted about himself, along with his lyrics. I wouldn’t be able to choose a favorite album, because I just really love so much of his work. But, I do find myself listening to Field Songs, Whisky For The Holy Ghost, and Phantom Radio quite a lot. His lyrics are so beautiful, and even making the darkness in them so sweet in some way. What I really love about him is that he is such a great songwriter and singer but reminds me of my own people from the working class, who I grew up around. And I suppose living here in Ann Arbor surrounded by people who came from more privileged backgrounds, I miss that kind of people. I genuinely appreciate his music, and I’m glad we have musicians like him. I appreciate that he put his lyrics into this book, and told a little about his experiences, and I really look forward to any other books Mark may put out. Thank you Mark for your music; it is a true friend to me. And for writing this book. Review: Great read! - Great works by a great artist

Live long enough to become comfortable with living
This book offers some insights into different periods of Lanegans life during the times he produced different albums, "some" but that's cool, he doesn't owe any of us a sacrifice of his privacy. I just really wish he had touched on his sobriety. The fact that he was eventually able to break from his addictions is the thing I respect most about him outside of his music, it may even help others who are struggling with the same issues. Such is life. It is nice to have a definitive book of his lyrics as I have wondered what some of them were, especially A Song While Waiting, what is he saying?? And Kingdoms of Rain, I always thought the line went "I loved you somewhat" rather than "I loved you so long" I guess I'm not the romantic he is. So no regrets in buying this book, thanks Mark.

A Must Have For Lanegan Fans
This book has the lyrics to most of his wonderful songs, and some great side stories to go with it. This is a great addition not only to his music but his amazing new rock bio ‘Sing Backwards And Weep’.

For those who love the music
In recent years I have discovered Mark Lanegan's solo records, and I have become a devoted fan. His songs are so evocative, I thought this book of song lyrics would enhance the music. And it does, though the lyrics were written for songs, and they do not all work as stand-alone poems. I doubt that many will find this volume to be great as poetry alone, but for those who love Lanegan's music, this is a great collection. Much of it is dark, and a major theme is getting high, being high, and being addicted, so beware. There are several introductions to time periods/albums/groups of songs that give us tantalizing autobiographical sketches of the artist that are fascinating and compelling. There is one puzzling omission. All of his solo albums from "The Winding Sheet" (1990) to "Gargoyle" (2017) are included, along with songs he wrote for several collaborations (Mad Season, Soulsavers, Isobel Campbell). But the songs he wrote for The Gutter Twins album with Mark Dulli ("Saturnalia" -- 2008) are not included. It is really amazing that Mark is still with us. The mortality rate for the Seattle grunge band singers is very high -- Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland, and Chris Cornell are all tragically gone too soon. I wish Mark the best, and I hope he lives to a ripe old age and brings us much more of his moving music.

This should be the Bible for aspiring artists and musicians--especially singer songwriters! Please read his biography! Inspiration. Genius. The best.

I'm a Mark Lanegan Brazilian fan, I love his lyrics and songs, they've helped me think about life and see the world through other eyes in difficult times. It's hard not to be lost in thought when listening to Mark's songs, and this book, even with few details but helps us to have a better understanding of the situation that this author passed when writing each album. Very grateful for this release! Stay in the peace of our Lord, Mark Lanegan!

Des textes sombres, une voix de baryton si particulière. Ce bouquin est très intéressant car il ouvre une nouvelle voie à l’interprétation de ses textes. R.I.P Mark tu vas nous manquer

I've followed this man like a stalker since his Queens of the Stone Age days. Somewhat late to the party I then worked backwards through his extensive catalogue and eagerly awaited his every release. I've seen him on all of his subsequent tours and even met him a few times after shows. Mr Lanegan is a man of few words. Choosing instead to let his music speak for him. The lyrics are always dark, brooding and unbelievably powerful. Somehow reading them without the music behind them enhances their potency. What I really enjoyed however are the little snippets that preface the albums, the little hints at the man behind the music. As biased as I am, what the world needs is a Mark Lanegan autobiography. An unflinchingly honest account of how he ended up painting the big brother house (only to be fired) and why he ended up in hospital with pipes where pipes really shouldn't be. I'd buy it in a heartbeat
