Works MUCH faster than other antacids.
Works very fast and I love that it doesn't have all the chemicals in it most antacids do.

This product has alginates as the active ingredient. Recommended by gastrointestinal drs.
Acid Reflux and GERD: Alginate therapy treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux). When swallowed, they react with stomach acid and calcium to create a buoyant, foam-like physical "raft" that floats on top of stomach contents, mechanically blocking acid from rising into the esophagus. Popular brands include Reflux Gourmet and Gaviscon Advanced. DON'T BE FOOLED BY OTHER US Gaviscon products that do not list alginates as the active ingredient. They are not recommended and do not work the same way. Should be available cheaper but apparently aren't at this time.

MCAS, Throat Irritation & Reflux Relief That Actually Helped
I deal with MCAS, vocal cord dysfunction, throat clearing, and reflux-related throat irritation, so I tried Gaviscon Extra Strength Peppermint. It helps calm my throat at night and even helps me rest better. I also take it after acidic meals during the day when reflux affects my throat. I love to sing, so I notice quickly when my throat feels irritated or strained.

It works but…
I’m giving this 5 stars because it actually does what it’s supposed to do. That being said let’s go through the experience of taking one chewable tablet for the very first time. The tablet itself was plain white, chalky and larger than a tums. I purchased the mint flavor and I am happy I did. I understood the concept of what was going to happen - the tablet creates a foam that cools and protects your stomach from acid. Great! I popped one in my mouth and began to chew, after all these are chewable. The taste was not quite mint but there was enough mint flavor present that I could ignore the background flavor I couldn’t identify. Suddenly and unexpectedly, the tablet began to change when my saliva touched it. My mouth was filled with a marshmallowy texture that was quickly morphing into shaving cream. Frantically I swallowed and thankfully it went down. It was a bizarre sensation that I was not prepared for. The foam was very cooling and you could feel as it moved down the esophagus to the stomach. It helped for about an hour and a half. Impressive and effective. Because it worked I will have to steel myself for the next time I take it. Perhaps I will crush the tablet in advance instead of trying to chew it. Strategies must be pondered. In summary if you have painful heart burn or GERDs and are at your wits end, Gaviscon is a great solution. Just be prepared with the chewable tablets for a fun surprise.

Fast Relief Favorite
Fast Relief Favourite I already take prescription stomach medicine, but when I want to enjoy foods that might push my luck, these tablets have been a lifesaver for me. They calm things down in about 30 seconds, keep working for hours, and after trying just about everything out there, this is the one I keep reaching for.

Works when you need to block gas and ease pain
This is a staple in my household. I have solt intolerance. Another brand caused a mefical emergency because it contained over 1000mg of sodium. I am grateful I can handle this brand. After surgery no.1 of 3, they must have caused damage to my esophagus. I could not even drink water, without the onset of burping and pain. Last year, my third surgery, they avoided tubes and caused no issues so the issues lasted a couple of weeks vs years. When ever I feel discomfort I take it and my symptoms subside in 30-40 minutes. If there is intestinal gas then I use the pharmacy version of GasX in combination with this. It is a good barrier to prevent gas coming up your esophagus. It never interfered with blood thinners that I am aware of. It has gotten me out of situations that were bad and going to last all night. There is 1-2 in my bag, nightstand and handy. I can never leave home without it. I think it has become grossly over priced though. The production is not costly, the fillers not costly, and packaging minimal, and tablets minimal, not labour intensive. They should consider cost vs consumption as it can go fast. It should be around $8.99-$9.99 range, but it is now in the $14.99 range. One star off for inflation.
