Can I use this saw to cut laminate flooring

Yes I have used mine to cut laminate flooring.

Could I cut a small thin apple tree with this? There just so many different saws I don't know which would be best.

You could but it would take ages because the sappy wood would keep clogging the blade. You really want a pruning saw with very coarse teeth. Or for more usefulness a handsaw with fewer teeth per inch

Does this come with a sleeve or cover?

The saw does have a cover for the teeth of the saw but not a complete cover. The saw is excellent and I recommend it.
