Flawless performance-here's an installation tip
We have a M4 Mac Mini and a 2018 Mac Mini. Neither were bought with the $100 upgrade to 10 gig internal ethernet cards as I didn't think at the time I would need more than the 1 gig standard ethernet that comes with these machines. Then T-Mobile installed fiber internet in our neighborhood. We now have 2 gig internet service. Shame on me for not future proofing our Macs! Anyway, despite having 2 Gig internet service, we could only take advantage of 1 Gig due to the ethernet cards in our computers. Salvation came in the form of the Sonnet ethernet to USB C adapter. I chose Sonnet from among all the adapters available as it is a well known, respected company that produces many solid products in the tech world. The price was no different than most of the no-name adapters. So the decision to go with Sonnet was a no brainer, IMO. I connected the adapter to one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports on the back of the M4 Mac Mini and one of the Thunderbolt 3 ports that are on the back of the 2018 Mac mini. The computers will not recognize the adapters UNTIL YOU RESTART YOUR COMPUTERS...at least for Macs. So be sure to restart after connecting things up. That was my one tip mentioned in the Title. Cheers!

Works perfectly on Mac and Linux. Good price, great quality product.
I decided to purchase the Sonnet Solo2.5 USB-C to 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter after having issues with a similar USB Ethernet adapter from another brand. The Sonnet did not disappoint and was even a few dollars cheaper than the other brand. Sonnet has a solid reputation for products in this space, especially with newer Apple hardware such as the M-series processors. I tested this at 1 and 2.5 Gbps on multiple Apple MacBooks (Air and Pro M1 and Pro M2) and a Dell laptop running Linux. No additional drivers or setup required. It all just worked. You won't be disappointed.

Perfect for My Fiber Internet
This works as advertised and hit 2 Gbps on my fiber internet with 6 ms latency on my Thunderbolt docking station. 2 Gbps is my max up/down so is the limiting factor. Extremely happy with this product, thank you!

Works great on Macbook Pro M1 Max
This adapter works right out of the box and getting pretty much full speed from a Synology 1621+ 72TB NAS drive with 10Gb card installed. Connected to a QNAP 10Gb switch I am getting 250MB/sec+ read and write with a Macbook Pro 16" M1 Max connected via the thunderbolt port. Highly recommended.

Works
I set two of these up and they've been running 24/7 with no issues.

AWESOME on the Mac Studio
This device TRULY delivers the full speed it claims. I downloaded some instrument library updates and was getting 137MBps (equal to over 1,000mbps) and that's over the internet, the speeds inside the network are even better. I can recommend this to Mac users - I've been using this for several months, powered on 24/7 with the machine and have not had any issues.

So far so good. A previous Realtek based adapter connected OK to a couple of local devices via a 2.5Gb switch but dropped the network connection immediately when the switch was connected to the wider home network. The Sonnet connected immediately I set up the network service on my 2018 Mac Mini and is giving over 200MB/sec over cat 5e cables and traversing two switches. If it remains stable it will be well worth the price.
