A spectacular sofa table made of a gorgeous solid Black Walnut slab mounted to a solid Black Walnut stump. Fits up nicely to a wall with its flat back. Unbelievable figuring - knots / swirls / and buckled 3-D figuring is seen throughout as well as at the base giving the "fiddle-back" character. Bathed in a hot oil treatment followed by 3 wet oil sandings bring out the natural sheen and luster. Worked to a super smooth feel using food safe Tung oil. Easy maintenance keeps it beautiful. Tung oil is the premium natural oil finish. It resists beverage and alcohol staining. As with all my stumps this has been kiln dried and disinfected by a heating process and then leveled and planed parallel. Table slab has two pieces of plywood recessed / glued / screwed to prevent any cracks from traveling. Securely anchored to the stump.
