Product Description The small town of Chester's Mill is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a massive transparent barrier. Staring Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris, Natalie Martinez, Britt Robertson, Alexander Koch, Colin Ford, Nicholas Strong, Jolene Purdy and Aisha Hinds, the epic story of a town in peril unfolds as the residents struggle to maintain control and ultimately figure out the truth about the dome. desertcart.com Stephen King's popular fantasy-thriller Under the Dome makes a largely successful leap to weekly television series, as evidenced by this first-season set. Overseen by a host of high-profile creative figures, from King himself and Steven Spielberg (both executive producers) to Lost veterans Brian K. Vaughan (credited as series creator) and Jack Bender, Under the Dome expands considerably on King's central premise of a small town in Maine that finds itself cut off from the world by an invisible, impenetrable dome. Tasked with making order out of this sudden chaos is a cross-section of everyday citizens, including former Special Forces vet Dale (Mike Vogel), newspaper editor Julia (Rachelle Lefevre), newly minted sheriff Linda (Natalie Martinez), and scientifically inclined teen Joe (Colin Ford), as well as Machiavellian used car dealer Big Jim (Dean Norris of Breaking Bad) and his deranged son (Alexander Koch). Tension builds at an agreeably brisk clip over the course of the debut season's 13 episodes as forces outside the dome attempt to break through while residents trapped inside struggle to make sense of their fates while contending with the growing and insidious influence of Big Jim and his son. Expanding the already sizable Dome (one of King's longest written works) into series format has its pros and cons: characters are given more time to develop, and many of the changes made to the book's premise--most notably to several characters and the nature of the dome itself--are mostly positive ones, and the large cast capably handles the material, with Norris and character actors Leon Rippy (Deadwood), Mare Winningham, and Ned Bellamy, all in recurring roles, taking the lion's share of the laurels. On the downside, however, the story feels stretched thin over the course of 13 episodes instead of a miniseries length: certain characters' actions feel shaped by the need to extend their arcs (sheriff Linda and Koch's Junior, for example), and key discoveries that would normally change the direction of the main storyline are left dangling, undoubtedly to be addressed at a later date/season. Dialogue too remains a consistent weak spot, and may put off casual viewers drawn in by the considerable attention and high ratings generated during Dome's initial network run. As it stands, Dome is a good if not great King adaptation--certainly better than most of the TV efforts to translate his work--but the jury remains out on whether it can hold its own over the course of multiple seasons. Extras on the four-disc Under the Dome set are substantial and vary from behind-the-scenes material to viral content. The show's inception and production is chronicled in several lengthy and detailed featurettes, including the 29-minute "Filming the Pilot," which features interviews with Vaughn and most of the major on- and behind-the-camera talent, as well as numerous moments with King himself. The author is also featured in his own extra, which pairs him with longtime friend and fellow author Michael Connelly for a brief read-through of the book's opening chapter and discussion of the show's expansion of the source material. "The First Season" adds considerable making-of detail for all 13 episodes, while "From Novel to Series" and "The World of Under the Dome" cover writing and casting and location work, respectively. Less compelling is "Joe's Blog," a series of 11 text and video posts generated by Ford's character, while the de rigueur gag reel and deleted scenes are, for the most part, forgettable. Three-plus minutes of promotional spots round out the wealth of supplements. --Paul Gaita Review: LIMITED COLLECTOR'S EDITION - NOT WHAT I EXPECTED! - Under the Dome (Limited Collector's Edition) [Blu-ray] LIMITED COLLECTOR'S EDITION - NOT WHAT I EXPECTED! First I have to say, I have not seen this TV Series and this review is about the Limited Collector's Edition only. I pre-ordered this Limited Collector's Edition from desertcart.com and it was to be shipped to Canada as it was not available here. I received it today, November 11th. After I opened the desertcart shipping box I saw a shrink wrapped thin cardboard box with all the info about this Limited Collector's Edition on it. After opening one end of the wrap and flipping down the 'finger lock tab' and lifting the end panel I saw an inner styrofoam container. I tried to get it out, but it was so tight I had to remove the shrink wrap, open the other end and push extremely hard to get it out of cardboard box with styrofoam all over the floor. After I opened the foam I realized this domed set was not what was pictured on desertcart when I pre-ordered it. I went back to their website and noticed that their images have changed. Worse than that, was that the dome over the town was completely loose and the inside of the dome was scratched by the buildings. It looks like the dome was attached to the town base with some kind of cheap epoxy glue which was falling off on the few points where it was used and was not what I would call 'air tight'. There were open spaces of about 1/8" around the dome and it's base. Unfortunately for me because I live in Canada, and an international return policy by desertcart, I would have pay upfront to have this set returned to the USA. I guess I'll have to somehow repair what I've received. After spending about $109 Canadian (buying this set, shipping and import duty) I have to admit: I"M EXTREMELY DISAPPIONTED! Review: Some of the worst plotted TV shows I have ever seen. - Under the Dome [0558 - 07-18-2014] Summary: A small town is suddenly and inexplicitly sealed off from the rest of the world by a transparent dome. No communication can pass through the dome. Content & Packaging: 4 disks - 13 episodes - standard DVD packaging. Several special features and few deleted scenes. Positive Comments: · I bought this set used. I hope I can sell it to someone else - quickly. The Cast: With rare exception the ensemble cast for this show - Wiki lists 30 speaking roles - is uniformly bland and undistinguished. The most memorable character - a drug addled old preacher was killed off around episode 4. Dean Norris as "Big Jim" Rennie looks exhausted by the silly plots and dialogue he must contend with. Negative Comments: (where do I begin) · Some of the worst plotted TV shows I have ever seen. For example a "real cute guy" working as debt collector for a bookie kills his client in a brawl. Quickly his digs a grave and buries the body just as the dome comes down with him inside. His victim's wife - she is real cute too - is frantic concerning her missing husband. Fast-forward a few episodes and the murderer is shacking up with the wife like nothing ever happened a couple of days ago - no remorse, no "is this kinda weird' type conversations - I could go on and on. · The few deleted scenes are at the end of disk 2, 3 & 4 but no reference is provided to the episode. · Unbelievable this show will have a season 2. Recommendations: If you like shows about cute, precocious teens dressed in the latest fashions - falling in and out of love - going into trances and speaking nonsense when they touch fingertips - and can decipher the domes mysteries - then you will like this show.

if you liked the book you'll hate this
Ugh! I should have known it would be a disappointment when I saw Spielberg's name on it. Only he would try to take a horror story and try to turn it into a few r l good pic. So unfortunate that a cable network didn't get a hold of it. The book was vintage King, a horror tale of a town gone ape s*** with lots of evil little subplots that all come together in a big bang at the end. Totally spellbinding and very dark. But this series is none of that. If you read the book don't bother, only disappointment awaits. For example, iirc, in the book angle is killed early on and hidden in a closet where her body, soon joined by others, is regularly defiled. She wasn't rescued by Big Jim who would have killed her to keep his son's secret anyway. Seriously! This story has only the name and the dome in common with the book. Worst king adaptation since the stand. I sure wish I'd read reviews before buying it...

Disappointing
If you are a Stephen King fan (which I am) you should read the book, if you haven't. (It's amazing.) If you have read the book, skip the TV series. Other than the premise of a Dome over a small town, the Series bares little resemblance to the book. The acting is mediocre, the characters don't resemble who you've come to know & the plot strays considerably off the path created in the book. I could only get thru Season 1-Episode 3, before I gave up. Very disappointing. I've noticed that most King scripts don't translate well to the screen. Especially if they have a heavy SiFi or supernatural storyline, which most do. It seems TV can't or won't reproduce the magic that flows out of the pages. Exceptions are "The Shinning", Shawshank Redemption", etc.

I saw advertisements for this and was curious about the plot. I had no idea it was based on a Stephen King novel at first but when I realised that I immediately decided to start watching this show and boy am I glad that I did. It's set in a small american town called Chester's Mill and everyone is happy and healthy... not for long. A strange occurrence leads to the town being cut off from the rest of the region. With food and electricity becoming scarce the citizens start to panic and their idyllic little world suddenly starts to fall apart. Fantastic acting from all involved, particularly Dean Norris who is brilliant as the town's sheriff with a troubled past. The DVD set comes with 4 discs which have 3-4 episodes each. There are said to be four more seasons to come so if you enjoy it you're in for a real treat! Recommended for sci-fi/drama devotees and Stephen King fans.

5 Sterne 🌟 sind absolut gerechtfertigt für Under the Dome!
