I only recently discovered the virtues of packing cubes. I have a soft backpack configured like a suitcase that came with a few such cubes. I discovered that the cubes work very well for keeping stuff in the backpack from shifting during repeated on and off cycles of the pack. I bought this set to use with a hard-sided suitcase, and I love them. Previously, I would just add some more stuff to the suitcase to fill it to reduce or prevent shifting of contents. The cubes make that unnecessary. Each cube can be packed as full as desired or needed, and any extra space in the suitcase is available for packing stuff where shifting is not an issue. The cubes also allow for destination unpacking without having to unpack everything. They are convenient storage at the destination, as well.
