Iga and Koka Ninja Skills: The Secret Shinobi Scrolls of Chikamatsu Shigenori

Out of all the books I have read this has to be the most in depth one to date .The script is a direct translation of authentic shinobi skills and is pretty much the full teachings ninja would receive from masters in the art from both the iga and koga regions of Japan .Everything is fully explained by chickamatsu shigenori who travelled ancient Japan at the dawn of the shinobi era and recorded the teachings of the last living shinobi. Definitely A must have book for anyone either interested in ninja or in Asian history as a whole .A real gem of a book with good artwork but not too much to overcrowd the text and comes in a nice hardback edition certainly A must buy!!!!

Anyone who knows anything about Ninja know that both Iga and Koka are very important parts of a larger puzzle, many say that the Bansenshukai was written by Iga no mono (men of iga) some say the same about koka, in a nutshell though, this is a book that has been translated from a scroll compiled by Chikamatsu Shigenori who spent time with both, men of iga and men of koka learning boths traditions they had trained in for 100s of years, it also has an in depth commentary on the art of war from the perspective of Ninjas, its an essential read.

This is one of the most fascinating reads I've ever come across regarding Ninja traditions. The Translation of the secret scrolls are very interesting to read and will adjust the way most people perceive japanese masters of espionage of that era. The author and his co-author has done a pretty good job unveiling the mysteries from the past. This eclectic book excels other so called "authentic" Ninja books, because sources are verifiable and the author is an expert on his subject. Buy it-it's worth it!

This is perhaps my favorite ninja manual. It was written by a Samurai who was able to study both the Iga and the Koka traditions of ninjutsu and is who then put it all together in an easily understood manner. The translation is very clear and the diagrams very helpful.

For those who want to find the historical truth about the two main Ninja clans of medieval Japan: Iga and Koga!

Iga & Koga the core of the Ninja (or correctly the Shinobi Mono) Most people have the impression that its just a way of combat but really there are many other lessons to be learnt. Based on actual Historic documents Antony's book gives us an insight of true Ninjutsu and the way they thought. A must for all serious Students of this Art.
