Glad I upgraded to Fritz 16...
I had Fritz 13 on my old laptop but when I upgraded to a much more sophisticated laptop, Fritz 13 didn't work well. So I bit the bullet and got Fritz 16. I'm very happy with the upgrade. You have to be used to this interface and have a special love for chess to figure things out in Fritz, but you get used to that (every time I reinstall it on a new computer, I immediately turn off all the noises, get rid of those dang arrows that show up on the board, turn off coach is watching, and a half dozen other things). I will say one thing worth pointing out - if you're brand new to chess or you have a tiny tike (i.e., young child) who is not a chess prodigy and doesn't have a lot of experience, then get ChessMaster. Fritz is sophisticated and rather quirky. And it plays surprisingly strong moves even at it's lowest playing strength. Great if you're trying to up your game, but may be frustrating to some folks. Fritz 16 has a lot of useful upgrades that have saved time and have increased my effectiveness as I study the game.

This program is "gimmicky." It's probably useful if you are trying to get your kid to play chess. There are some feedback features that are interesting but not essential. If you have access to online opening databases, like Chessbase and are an owner of recent Fritz (13, 14, 15) programs, I'd avoid this. Chessbase obviously needed something glitzy to keep selling chess software.

It's ok, but not the greatest.
I am not overall flabbergasted by my copy, but it works.I am still trying to figure out the configurations and do analysis on my games, which seems like sound logical improvement. It comes with a 6 month subscription of chess base, which I hardly use.I am just not overall impressed by modern day chess technology, I feel like it could be a lot better, but I put down the money, so I can live with Fritz until the world is no more.Again, this is coming from a player who hates snotty commentary and "mood status" in my games.

Slow - Few, if any, advantages over earlier versions.
Fritz 14 wasn't perfect, but Fritz 16 has a worse interface. Common menu items are hard to find in this version. Slow to load.

Great Chess Program
Fritz 16 has all the features you’ll need to become a formidable chess player. This program has an envious lineage in the chess world. It’s an excellent program.

Excellent Value
This seems to be a very good chess playing program with lots of opportunities for improving one's game. I only wish the package came with a more thorough instruction booklet to learn the basics of the program. While the on-line help is extensive, I still haven't figured out how to use the 'opening book' training system, though I'm sure I'll get it sooner or later!

The new Fritz 16 interface is more user friendly to those that are new to the program. All of the original functionality remains in place. Not that much to upgrade to for Fritz 15 users, other than the interface.

...Excellent for the Beginner
I am a total beginner. I know that there are a lot of free options that are very good. For me, this is better - I'm a satisfied customer.
