This sticky little bottle saved my 2am garage repair session
The stuff is messy in a funny way. It absolutely loves to crawl onto your fingers, the wrench, the floor, everything. I just keep a rag nearby and work slower. Once I brush it on the gasket or threads though, bolts go together super smooth and snug. It feels like a light lubricant while Iโm tightening, but then it seals up tight after. Iโve used it on thermostat housing gaskets, a couple intake bolts, and even a random pipe fitting on my air compressor. It held pressure fine, no weird seepage. I like that itโs basically the same old โgasket shellacโ my grandpa talked about. So it feels a little oldโschool in a good way. One specific win. I rechecked that Civic a week later after a commute to the coworking space and the leak was gone. That made me really glad I bought it. ๏ฟฝ

Messy but oh so good!
I am not a vine reviewer so I speak the truth. This still is a must for any mechanical repairs. It is very messy and loves to go places you don't expect. Loves to drip and find it's way to butter finger prints. It acts like a lubricant on threads, like bolts and fittings, so they go together nice and smooth. This stuff use to be called Gasket Shellac in the old times. This works for gaskets, but also as a thread sealant, like for intake bolts, and head bolts.

So far so good
Used it on two troublesome coolant hose connections that always found a way to drip After few months of driving still not leaking after applying minimal amount to both surfaces, letting air dry for several minutes then assembling as normal. Also used on external surface to control a small EVAP vacuum leak. I'm sure this is not a recommended usage of this product but I was desperate. 2007 Hyundai Sonata SE fuel pump near the top locking ring had developed many micro cracks and would allow very small amount of vacuum leak during self test and causing check engine light. Location of pump and ring and over all value of this work car led me to try coating the entire top exposed surface with this product and allowing to dry several days. Basically used as a painted on sealer. High tackiness and good fluidity. It worked and was able to pass emissions inspection. Spend the time to read the reviews from people who have used this for years on many applications. It's a great find of first hand info.

Used on paper gasket.
This never disappoints, used on a paper gasket to seal my idle control valve block off plate. Using this stuff for years on everything and not once have I experienced a leak, easy to clean up also.

Good Sealant - Poor Packing
When you need Permatex Aviation Form-a-Gasket, nothing else will do. My last bottle lasted a very long time. My only complaint is the packing. The lid on the bottle was only finger tight. The bottle bounced around in the small box and made a big mess, even though product loss was not worth complaining about. If there had been anything else in the box - well that stuff may have been returned. So: five stars for Permatex and zero for the packer.

Messy but works for old car leaks
Moved into this older apartment and my 20 year old Honda immediately started spotting the garage floor. I grabbed this sealant on a tight budget to deal with a small oil leak around the valve cover. It goes on thick and sticky, so I had to keep a rag nearby, but it seals well once it sets. I drove to work and back a few times and the drip practically stopped. The cap design annoys me though. It tends to gum up and I have to fight it open every use. For what I paid, Iโm glad it did its main job and kept my landlord from nagging me about stains.
