Update: after using this power outlet for several months I haven't had any issues and it gives me the ease of mind knowing my expensive devices are better protected. Thankfully I didn't have the chance to experience power surges to have a real review for you, but the product feels premium and it offers great insurance for your devices if you adhere to their terms and conditions, i.e. you plug the extension cable directly to the wall outlet, that the line is grounded, that the devices connected are all working and are not shorting the circuit, etc. all very logical and sensible conditions. In that case, they are liable up to 100,000 pounds of damages if something happens to your devices. I also love the phone line surge protection, as it is very annoying having to ask the broadband company to send you the replacement modem as the excessive current of the phone line can easily kill any modem. But if you purchased a modem on your own then this is kinda a must-have as good modems can cost hundreds of pounds.

Cunning design gives 8 outlets in a compact outline. The RJ11 telephone connectors allow telephone equipment and DSL modems to be protected from lightning surges. The earth connection of the mains is used by this for over voltage protection. Note that cheap protectors without an earth facility are only protecting line to line whereas the most likely lightning effect is a high voltage line to ground/earth. The main power switch allows all protected equipment, eg PCs, laptops, routers, printers, TVs to be powered on or off together. The switch is recessed so reducing the likelihood of accidental switching - tho it does make it a little more awkward. Worth the extra money for a quality piece of kit.

Bought this item to prevent my modem getting fried through the phoneline again. Wonder whether that works now. As it turns out, despite the images (the grey button on the side) above and on the box the thing came in, there is no circuit-breaker in the UK-version of this unit. That's what you see is missing when getting it out of the box and as shown on the image taken from the 'manual' enclosed with the thing and downloadable (search the APC website with model no PMF83VT-UK). One has to rely on the 13A fuse in the plug (so better keep these losable items somewhere near). Another amazon electronics-example where one really has to read the very fine print.

Solidly built power strip with easy to use sockets that are perfect for wall warts. Surge protection is better than most in terms of rating. Overall confident to use for high value electronics.

Excellent product. Had a spike one night and it prevented my £2000 home cinema with surround system, 65 inch TV and other devices to fry. I have two now because I have more expensive stuff to plug in. Totally worth the money.

First one returned after the Aerial coaxial protection failed after a week and suddenly no signal to my TV. Replacement failed the same after days but I can't be bothered to return this one as well. As for surge protection for my 3,pin plug connected devices I can only assume it's working.
