Includes bonus program: Killer Whales Of Teh Fjord. Running time:77mins. 2004 release. Journeys with Wildlife vol.2. Review: Good documentary - This documentary gives a fascinating and insightful glimpse into the lives of these intelligent marine mammals. They are called wolves of the sea and often hunt in packs (well...pods anyway), and have been viewed in the past as savage and ruthless killers when it comes to hunting their prey. But they are also highly social and curious animals that form strong, often lifelong bonds with each other. This documentary shows the many different sides to Orca whales and explores the facets of their behaviour. The DVD also includes some footage that was cut from the original television broadcast (I recorded it on VHS so I have watched the original televised version enough to compare). If you are interested in orcas, or wildlife in general, then this documentary comes highly recommended. Also included on this DVD is another Killer Whale documentary called Killer Whales of the Fjord which follows a research team in Norway studying a pod of orcas that has developed an entirely new hunting technique for catching herring, which is gradually being adopted by other pods in the area. Review: Interesting - I found the whole thing very interesting and educational. The bonus film was good as well. I wish that subtitles were available, but as it was done in 1993, there wouldn't be. I was surprised at the time given on the DVD which states 77 minutes run time. The main film lasts for around 56 minutes, and the bonus film lasts for around 25. I was a little bit surprised to find that the seller didn't include a returns policy, but fortunately, the quality is in excellent condition, so I shouldn't be meeting that problem. Because of these two critisisms, I have given it four stars.
