Great Ruggedised froms which are at last fully GAP
I bought these to replace an original set of BT elements phones which have done sterling service for years and then due to something or other started to fail to log on the base. I require a set which would be damp proof, dirt resistance and semi ruggedized.. After shopping around I found that buying 2 2 handset sets was cheaper than buying a 4 handset kit. Absolutely no problems at all functionally, logged all 4 handsets onto the one base and labelled than up. The great thing about these are that they truly are fully GAP compatibly so most settings can be done from one phone, the telephone directory is shared (and not contained the one handset, one of the bugs with the original supposedly GAP BT Elements). No problems with call quality but you do have to wait for small time for the answer button to register (it's still less than a second but it's longer than I experienced with the predecessors). Speaker phone is adequate, with the caller not being aware that they are in that mode. Its easy to set up call blocking but we recognise the normal junk calls so just don't pickup. The 2 things I can't comment upon are 1) Range, they are adequate enough to reach thru this 3 storey, solid build property but I haven't taken it for a jaunt up the road. Don't require that use so I haven't tested it. If it does then I would (using the bigger ariel) 2)The answer phone, don't use them, don't really need then but it is a useful addon if you did. The actual design with the external ariel is a through back to the old days where all cordless phones had one and does look like a hand held radio, which some people may not like, the buttons are clearly labelled and you require a firm push to actually engage on some of them, which may get easier over time. The display is adequate. What more can you say about good working phone

Fantastic phones that work well in houses with thick stone walls.
Brilliant. We live in a very old stone cottage with 2 ft thick walls both internal and external. Dragging the cottage into the 21st century with wifi and wireless phones has been a challenge. For our wireless house phones we had previously bought a long range Panasonic DECT phone 4 years ago but soon realised that this wasn't upto the job and we had to keep 2 rooms away from the base station at the most before they cut out. But as we had spent the money we kept the old Panasonics until the handsets started to flake out. Well that happened at the end of last year and I was happy to look into the alternatives. There wasn't that many which stood out but this BT Elements 1KM phone did. They are larger than normal handsets to house the extra electronics to boost the signal but after a couple of days we didn't notice the difference in size. What we did notice is that the performance was brilliant. We couldn't test the full 1km range as its a bit hilly where we live but we had it working to 300m outside which is amazing. So it can handle our cottage easily. There is nowhere in our 3 storey stone cottage where they don't work. Outside in the garden they are just as good. I can even pop to the neighbours which is another stone cottage 30m away and they work inside their house. Fantastic. The phone works as a normal phone, with no noticeable differences in use. Normal keypad and a very good and very easy and intuitive phone book. The best we have ever used. They also have a very slim belt clip which is useful but in normal use you don't notice it. We were so impressed we bought another set of two and added them onto our system to make a quad system. They might be more expensive that normal DECT phones but as they work in our situation then we couldn't be happier.

Built to last, good rnage
Knock one star off for occasional screen/key freeze! Either let it run flat and recharge or unscrew battery and put back in to reset. Otherwise they've been great, good range out into the garden and sturdy construction

Very Impressed by the range on this phone
I haven't tried this to see if it does the full range yet, but it works great in & around our offices & sheds at work. Despite two walls & a house being in the way, it still worked perfect ( about 80 ft from base). It works well up to 150 ft away with two walls inbetween. Very easy to install & use. It is quiet long, especially with the long distance antenna, but it's narrower than most smartphones, so it's easy to hold. It has big clear buttons & the menu works like a standard mobile phone, easy to add contacts etc. It seems sturdy & has a clip on the back to clip onto a belt etc . Much better range than other standard cordless phones & very reasonable priced. I would definately recommend this product.

Excellent phone
Bought this to replace a "Gigaset Premium C570A Cordless Phone" that was very slim and looked nice, with an attractive colour screen, but had a deeply unintuitive control layout. In contrast, while this BT phone perhaps does not look all that elegant (although I like the industrial design), it is very easy to use, with all the common functions being literally at your fingertips, in buttons that click with a satisfying positivity. In addition, I like the decent heft (although it may be too weighty for some). And leaving the belt clip on the phone makes for an even better grip. Last but by no means least, the sound quality is fine. Not cheap, but worth the money.

Superb quality, range and very robust
Having previously been a user of Panasonic DECT phones I struggled with their poor range, even with a DECT range extender. These BT Elements phones are certainly less elegant than the Panasonic phones and they are indeed bulkier, however, the build quality is solid and they really look like they are built to last. The battery life is outstanding and they work throughout our large brick walled house and beyond to the end of the garden. The phone and answer phone have all the standard features you would expect, speaker phone is useful too. The LED screen is quite basic and only has one colour but once you realise this is a functional device rather than a fashion item you quickly learn to love it. Highly highly recommended.

I'm sure it is excellent if you live on a farm with wide open ...
I'm sure it is excellent if you live on a farm with wide open spaces. It may be ok un the suburbs with normal height homes. Not very good in built up areas like inner city or "old towns" with a lot of old stone multi-story buildings. I got a signal at the end of my short street but it vanished when I turned the corner onto the main road. I am on a ground floor. Maybe it would work better if installed on upper floors if your a city dweller. I will tinker with the placement of the transmitter so I can maybe get a reception at my local coffee shop around the corner or in the nearby park. I suggest placing it at a window. Thats why I got it. One thing is good though. I can take it into the steamy bathroom and kitchen. It is rugged good looking, multi functional and may remind some of the original mobile phone sets. :-)

Very good (but the range is misleading if any walls are involved)
These really do offer extended range over standard models. How far is about walls as much as distance, but I now have a signal all over the house for the first time. However, one small irritant: on the fringes of reception one can continue a call but not always instigate one - the phone loses its connection to base station when a call finishes, so starting a new one can require one to move back a little closer. Glad I got them, though.
