Dual Controller Charger - Mains Powered (PS3)

I ordered one of these chargers despite the conflicting reviews and am pleased I did. It does exactly what its supposed to do; charge PS3 controllers using mains power. I appreciate some people clearly had faulty items and some couldn't line up the controller to the charging connector (but as my 4 year old can do this then decide for yourself!). Sits under the telly and flashes whilst its charging and then red lights go off indicating that you can turn off the charger (nice easy to press button). Once powered off the blue 'neon' lights go off as well. Great product, great price. Ignore the others, 5 stars.

This ticked all the boxes I needed. Great controller charger that uses either the wall socket or USB to charge. I needed one to use the mains socket so this fitted the bill. It also didn't need those stupid snap-on accessories for the controller that so many others use to dock with the charging unit. I brought this as a replacement of such a unit that broke and this is far superior. It was shipped and delivered as promised and packaged well. Really pleased to have found a reliable wall socket charger.

Actually, although my order detail directs me to the product detail of this item, it is not the one I bought. Mine does not have the blue glowing strip, only two LEDS. I assume it has been updated since I bought it in February. Anyway, mine works perfectly with my DualShock 3 controllers. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. It is fairly 'fiddly' to insert the controllers, but I specifically wanted something small and unobtrusive. ***The only thing I am disappointed with, is that I am sure this is the same product as the one that is 'not mains powered' (new version as well as old). Mine came with a seperate Alcatel mains adapter, and I have found that it works with my Blackberry adapter ...and all the others that I have collected with mobile devices. Ultimately it is only a small saving, but it may save you having yet another power adapter in a drawer. My assumption is that it will work with any mains adapter, which I believe to be a 5-pin USB Mini-B (ie the same shape as that fits into the controller. It would be useful for another reviewer to confirm this for the new version, although I see no reason for it to be different. NOTE - From what I have read, the reason that the controllers will not charge direct from the power adapter, is something to do with the initial power presented to the device. This charger resolves this problem.

A couple things about this that make it stand apart from many other PS3 controller chargers: 1. You can switch the damn blue light off. Brilliant. Why does everything have to glow? When did society become this way? 2. It plugs into the mains. 3. It doesn't require a large footprint. - this is actually quite sound, considering I've seen several which seem to be vying for which can take up the most floor space.

This has to be the best PS3 controller charger on the market?! Its compact, easy to use, does what it should, has what it needs, gets power from the mains (not usb so less clutter with the PS3) & its cheap! What more do you want? Buy it! or 2 of them if you have 4 controllers! I do not understand any bad review on this product... Its perfect!

Received it very quickly so no complaints there. Although the charger worked when plugged in via the micro USB to USB (PS3), the mains plug didn't. The mains plugs Micro USB connection was a terrible fit and clearly wasn't made for use with this product as it took a lot of effort to push it in. They sent a replacement plug this one was just as poor in quality and after pushing it in this time, the base unit's Micro USB port broke due to the force required rendering the whole thing useless. After the previous dodgy connection I was very careful when pushing this one in so it wasn't from me being heavy handed. I was then told to return the whole unit for a replacement. One month later, nothing arrived and no contact. I chased it up and decided to get a refund as it seemed more than likely I would have the same issue again. So to conclude, the base unit is absolutely fine however I would buy your own micro usb plug and buy the base unit by itself as the one supplied is utterly useless and will just break the whole thing. Not impressed with the seller. Although fast replies via email, very robotic responses and not very helpful in solving the problem as I made it very clear that I didn't want the same plug to be sent out and without chasing them up I would never of received a refund or product.

Ordered this as I wanted a name I'd heard of, Competition Pro. Unfortunately, that isn't what I got from iTALKonline-UK who claim to be in the middle of updating their descriptions but haven't done so thus far... Why doesn't this surprise me? I received an unknown brand of dock and a completely unrelated also unknown brand wall charger adapter (it looks like the ones supplied by Mr. Gadget's Solutions in the pictures from other reviewers). On a positive note, it does charge the controllers but it isn't what I ordered and from that perspective I feel it to be a bit of a rip off.

I have two controllers and needed to charge both, and to have them ready charged for use, this was perfect, its mains charging, and it holds them both securely. It has a small blue light which can be turned on/off as you like. And each dock has a red flashing light to indicate its charging. Very happy.
