Won’t be this brand again
Honestly I could never get it to work. First time I reached out and they sent me a new screen. But new screen came with no luck. Ended up just taking it off my camper and decided to just learn how to back up without it

Works great!
Just like most things that I purchase online (which is a fair amount), I make my decisions based on the features, reviews, and price. This DoHonest S21 RV Backup Camera System exceeded my expectations. The kit came with a couple of different means of mounting the monitor on the dash as well as mounting the camera to the camper. This included the Furrion Adapter plate and power adapter cable. I didn't like the monitor suction cup mount and I wasn't about to drill holes into the dash of my new truck. I had a 6.5" x 7.5" thin steel plate in my pile of things I don't throw away because I will need it sometime. I also had some extremely strong magnets that held the supplied square U monitor mounting bracket to my steel plate. I put a non-slip rubber pad on the bottom of the plate so it doesn't slide around on the dash. The footprint is large enough such that the monitor doesn't come close to tipping over. I don't like the plastic shroud that clips around the monitor to shield the display from the sun. Almost every time I touch it, it falls off. However, it does not fall off while in normal use. I installed the camera at the dealer when I picked up our new 26' camper because it was going to be over a 2 hour drive home and I was worried about the camera to monitor wireless link breaking while traveling as some of the reviews mentioned. I was disappointed when it disconnected early in the trip and stayed off most of the way home. I didn't want to destroy the integrity of the Furrion shark fin mount for the camera by trying to remove any part of it other than replacing the plastic cover plate with the metal adapter plate provided with the system. This installation forced the camera to be at an angle such that the camera's antenna was forced to point at an angle backwards a substantial amount instead of pointing straight up. I cut, drilled, and spray painted a piece of galvanized steel (from the same pile mentioned before) so that the camera mounting bracket does not attach directly to the Furrion adapter plate. Instead, there is a 90 degree homemade bracket between them. As you can see in the photo, this allows the antenna to point straight up. There have been NO disconnects in over 4 hours of towing since then. Some reviews have talked about there being a long lag in the video. Mine has almost no noticeable lag - a very small fraction of a second at worst. The daytime video quality is very good. I have not used it at night. Overall, this has been an excellent addition to our RV life. I feel much more comfortable seeing all of the vehicles behind us while towing and not just the ones that I can see in the mirrors. It does take some getting used to the fact that everything shown on the monitor is much closer than they appear.

Good system, great value
I purchased this system to replace a Furrion camera that had a fogged lens due to moisture. A replacement camera only from Furrion was almost $300. TLDR; The system will satisfy requirements for an inexpensive backup camera well enough. The system included cables and a nice adapter to allow testing the camera and display before installation. The display and camera worked flawlessly while testing. Having that ability is definitely a nice touch. The installation manual itself is not that helpful. It doesn't describe camera installation at all-- you have to figure it out. There are YouTube videos that help. The manufacturer's videos have good descriptions of the menus and configurations, but you'll have to search to find other videos with physical installation of the camera. The pamphlet included does have enough detail for basic testing and configuration. Installation of the camera wasn't too hard, though the power adapter plug for Furrion didn't work. I am somewhat mechanical and have done automotive wiring. The installation may or may not be harder for you. I'm not sure if it was the reversed polarity that some reviewers mentioned or the incomplete connection requiring shaving the connector down. I just cut the connectors off and wired it directly using some wire nuts. The "Adapter" for the camera is just a plate that goes on the front of the Furrion mount. The camera still requires a fairly large bracket on top of the plate. Pro-tip: Mount the bracket on the plate without the camera before you mount the plate. They provide small bolts to mount the bracket, but you have to be able to reach the back of the bracket. Once the power was working, there was no issue with the camera or display. My camper is 37 feet long, and the truck adds another 15 feet or so, but there was no issue with connectivity or dropped signal. The camera and display are very clear. Of course, only a 7-inch monitor, so you don't really need the advertised HD quality. The camera was automatically recognized and it was easy to add the guide lines for backing using the menus. The sunshade (already mounted) does help seeing the display in sunshine as well. The lighter adapter and the bit of cable on the monitor were long enough that I didn't need to use any of the testing cable for the installation. I have two issues with the camera as it stands. The first is the angle of the lens. Using it as a backup camera at close range is acceptable. I adjusted the angle of the camera so that my spare tire carrier (on the back bumper) was just barely visible on the bottom of the screen. That gives a view of about 10-12 feet behind the trailer. That's okay, but definitely not as good as the Furrion camera that I replaced. With the Furrion, it had a wide angle lens that let me see the bumper and still see 50-60 feet behind the camera. The second issue is that the refresh is fairly slow. The transmission delay is enough that the signal is useless at highway speeds. With the short distance the camera sees, the field of view can't keep up with reality. I had one car come up closely after a stop light this past weekend. It was already beside me before the camera showed it pulling up to my bumper. I'm hoping to solve both problems with a second camera. I will use one camera, pointed more straight back as a rear view camera while driving and the downward pointing camera strictly as a backup camera. That wouldn't be necessary if the camera had a bit wider angle lens, but it doesn't. The manual says there is a promotional second camera... I guess I will see. It's been two weeks and so far my email has gone unanswered. Overall, this is a good value. You will get what you pay for, but it may be lacking if you are comparing it to more expensive systems. The cost makes it a decent risk. The system is advertised with a two-year warranty. Hopefully I won't have to test the warranty response or customer service for any other issues. As it stands today, I would buy it again.

Screen powers on but camera won't power on. Tested power and camera just won't come on. Even covered the lens area and no lights came on. It's unfortunate

A must have for RV owners
I'm towing a 23 ft RV and needed a backup camera. I have it wired into the lights so as long as my lights are on the camera is too!! I love this because now I can see who is coming up behind me while driving, And I can see when it's safe to pass! I used the DoHonest on my previous RV and was so happy with it that I bought another one for my new RV. It is very easy to install. I like having the window mount for the monitor and the power cord plugs right into the 12 volt accessary port (aka cigarette lighter port). PROS: price - ease of install - easy to use - great picture quality CONS: none I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable camera system. INSTALLATION NOTE: you can use the top center marker light at the rear of the RV for a power source. I removed the light completely and then just drilled a couple of small holes in the camera mounting bracket to install into the pre existing lighting holes. gives a factory look and keeps the RV from having a new way for moisture to get in.

Wish install was easier
Couldn’t get it to stay connected and would lose feed on it. Took quite a while to get installed by myself.

Backup/review mirror camera that actually does what it says it'll do.
I wanted to wait for a while and use this before writing a review.. Just to make sure it works and it lasts.. The quality of this product is tops.. We've tested out other systems and many were just crap to be honest. We have a full car length and a trailer behind the car. I wanted to use this as a rear view mirror system so I can see behind me while travelling on the road. There is nearly zero lag in the video that comes in and it never drops out. I'm definitely happy I spent the extra money to get this kit and wouldn't go with another brand in the future if I ever need another setup like this.. The monitor is big and easy to see.. There are multiple ways to mount it in the car. I decided to go off the windscreen, but set it low enough so it touches the dash, due to the weight of the screen. Haven't had any problems with it coming off the windscreen while driving, which is a bonus.. Easy setup with just the power wire in the back and the cig lighter in the front. Definitely worth the money..
