BEWARE- British vs. American Editions
Great book- thorough and covering a lot of the information I was looking for. From Gardening to Making Cheese to Laying Brick to Wiring up a Solar Array- this book has it. But I was a little disappointed with my Amazon recommended package deal of John Seymour's "The NEW Complete book of SELF SUFFICIENCY" paired with John Seymour's "THE SELF SUFFICIENT LIFE AND HOW TO LIVE IT". THESE BOOKS ARE IDENTICAL!!! One is designed for the American market (The Self Sufficient Life...) and one is designed for the British Market (The NEW complete....). Right down to identical page numbering. So far I have only found 2 differences between the books. American "Fava beans" are called "Broad Beans" and "American "Canning" is called "Bottling". The books are great but Amazon should not have recommended I buy 2 identical books. Beware the package deal. Interestingly "The NEW complete..." is also 5 pounds cheaper than "The Self Sufficient...". So save some money and buy the British edition.
