Great enclosure, great price for what it is.
Perfect for most users. Easy to install drive, awesome dual USB-C and A connectors attached so not going to lose it when most needed. Easy, no tool installation of drive, just slide cover, insert drive slide cover back on, plug in, and ready to move some files. Fast enough for daily back-ups, archiving and external drive (since Apple is offering ridiculously laughable teeny, tiny storage. And charging stupid greedy money for reasonable storage). As mentioned plug and play (just format actual drive) for Mac's or Windows machines. Cons: All plastic, so not great for cooling (and unless you are using the drive constantly, reading and writing almost non-stop, should not be an issue. But be aware. And not sure how it would do in a fall on hard floor, though with sad it is relatively light, but again be aware. Final issue is a Pro and a Con, short attached USB cable. Nice it is dual USB, and attached, so no chance if misplacing it m, and nice to pack and carry. But not so good if cord gets damaged, and is about 6-8" short. So unless you can get close to computer port, you may need an extension (min. $8-9). But if you can deal with a couple possible issues, this is a cheap, very capable enclosure for a vast majority of users.

Pretty good usb sata hard drive enclosure.
Pretty good 2.5" Sata USB hard drive enclosure. I've used it with both types of 2.5 drives and it works fine. It's not a super fast transfer device, but fast enough and works well for my needs. Power supply is thru the usb cord. It's designed pretty good, easy to install, doesn't get hot and allows for easy recognition and any size storage capacity.

Very fast, practical, and easy to use
The product arrived well protected, with clean, undamaged packaging. Upon opening it, I was surprised by how compact and lightweight it is, and the black plastic design feels solid and well made. I've been using it for a few days, connecting it to 2.5-inch SSDs and HDDs, and everything works without a hitch. Thanks to UASP SATA III support, transfers reach up to 5 Gbps, which is noticeably faster about 70% faster than traditional USB 3.0. Tool-free installation was very simple: just slide the cover, insert the drive, close it, and you're done. What stands out most is the dual USB-C and USB-A compatibility: I don't have to search for different adapters depending on the device. Its versatility is also excellent: it works with Windows, macOS, Linux, and even consoles like the PS4, and accepts drives up to 6 TB and 9.5 mm thick. Overall, I think it's an excellent purchase. It's ideal for anyone who needs to expand or reuse drives quickly and efficiently—especially for those who frequently move large files. I would especially recommend it to students, professionals, or gamers. I would definitely buy it again.

Perfect!
Great enclosure, but tricky to close The BENFEI 2.5 Inch SATA to USB Tool-Free External Hard Drive Enclosure works really well overall. Setup was a breeze — true to its "tool-free" claim, installation is quick and easy, and it supports both USB Type-C and Type-A, which adds flexibility. Transfer speeds are fast, especially with an SSD thanks to UASP and SATA III support. My only issue is that the enclosure is a bit difficult to close once the drive is inserted. It takes some force and doesn’t always align perfectly on the first try. That aside, it’s a solid, affordable option for anyone needing an external SSD enclosure. Would definitely recommend — just be patient when sealing it shut!

As close to perfect as an external drive enclosure can be
You know that satisfying feeling when you get a new plug & play device, and when you connect it the driver loads right away and the device works perfectly? Well, that's this enclosure. Drive fits snugly without needing to use the extra pads. And I love that clever USB plug which works with either the PC or the phone ... I tested it and it powered up and was recognized by the phone but I need to recover files from the drive I put in the case before I reformat it to use with the phone. All this for under $10? Amazing!

Perfect for My SSD
Wasn’t expecting much from a low priced item, but I had an external ssd that wouldn’t connect anymore. I expected a controller failure so I removed it from the old/original case and put it in this one. Worked right away. Design is good, but, with the padding inside, you have to push it firmly to get the drive in, but it works.

Attached or not attached (that is the question)
I have a drive case have been using for years and years and years, and it had an external cable that plugged into a port on the drive. I went to pick it up the other day, and the port had seperated from the board inside. I am thinking it is probably my fault from carrying it in my bag while leaving the cable plugged in. So, I couldn't access the files on the drive anymore. I needed a new case. But cases, and cables, and ports, have changed a bit since I got my last one. I have also embraced USB C and I have worked on simplifying my life by trying to normalize on the one standard to minimize the cables I need. I seemed to have three choices. A case like I had with a micro B connector A case with a USB C connector A case with an integrated connector (like this one) I was torn between the last two optiones, and it really came down to BENFEI, because they had two cases, each the exact same price, one with an integrated cable, and one with a seperate cable. I thought about getting the one with the seperate cable because If you need a cable of a different length, you just swap it out If your cable breaks, you just swap it out If you have multiple USB C devices, you don't need multiple cables, so potentially less clutter. In the end, I chose to get the integrated cable anyway because, I know myself, and I know, I tend to leave the cable plugged in anyway. That is actually why I need a new case. They are so cheap anyway. A good cable will cost almost as much as the whole enclosure. If the cable breaks, I can just get a new one. This had an integrated converter, so I can plug it into an old computer that doesn't have USB C, but when in USB A mode, you can't even tell hardly there is a converter. last but not least, I was just at a place where someone had a case just like my old one with the micro usb B case, and they were frantically looking around for their cable, and they couldn't find one. That will never happen with this case, since the cable cannot be removed. The downside is, the cable can't be removed, so makes it a little harder maybe to pack into a bag. The length is still a potential issue, but I do also carry with me a USB C extension cable, so if I need more length, I can just use that. How is the case? Well, It is quite nice actually. The fit was quite snug actually. there were some little foam fillers on the sides and at first I thought maybe I had gotten the wrong case, because it almost didn't seem the drive was going to fit in, but it did, and it is nice and snug, and small and compact, and for all of the reasons listed above, I really quite like it. I quite like the beveled adges all around the case too. I have access to my files again. It works fine. I mean, as affordable as all of these cases seem to be now, I may even pick up a few more for other old drives I have laying around so I don't have to swap them out.

Easy, no tools installation. Works great.
Got this to add an external SSD to an HP All-In-One that only has one HDD drive bay - which has been upgraded to a SSD. I'm mainly using it for Quickbooks Desktop backups. I tried using a thumb drive but QB would literally take 10 minutes or more to "finalize" the backup and fininsh, allowing use of the QB software again. Everything worked fine but I have no idea why the delay. It would get to about 90% and just lag. So I plugged in an extra SSD from an old laptop into a HDD utility box that uses a power chord and cables to connect an uninstalled HDD or SSD to a USB port. It worked fine with QB backup so I bought this case to make the connection less messy and more permanent. The case is very basic with a sliding cover and internal SATA connection. It's a tight fit for the SSD but that keeps it from moving around. It comes with 2 felt pads that you can install on the cover to hold the SSD more firmly in place but I decided not to use them. One pad is 1.5mm thick and the other is 3mm. The chord has both a USB-A and USB-C convertible end - the USB-C plugs in to the USB-A, or you can use the USB-C by itself. I'm using the USB-A connection. After installation and plugging it into a USB port the unit powers on and is immediately available for use. The instructions say to initialize and partition the SSD before use if brand new, but mine was already set to go. I need a magnifying glass to read the instructions, but they are clear and easily followed. It says after 10 minutes the device goes into "smart sleep mode" and powers down the SSD to save energy and preserve the life of the SSD. I'm not sure if this actually happens on my system because the power light stays lit on the box continually. Overall this is a sturdy case that firmly holds the SSD in place and functions well when plugged in to the USB port. Recommended.
