Barcodes are a great way to streamline your life, think of them as another input device to your computer or phone. This barcode scanner is small with a velcro strap that allows you to use it as a finger-mounted device, which is a nice feature because you can still use your hands. I use barcodes from one computer screen to automate work on another, so having a finger-mounted device is a great idea. The push button on the side is very easy to reach with your thumb, and the reader isn’t very heavy. Setting up the reader was easy, it connected to my laptop and my Android phone using Bluetooth without using the included dongle, and the reader scanned paper-based barcodes easily once I ensured the scanner was set up correctly. The instruction manual has barcodes to set the features to your liking, such as turning vibration and sound on or off, and selecting the types of barcodes you anticipate reading. Getting up and running was very easy. Once I tried to start scanning I was a little disappointed with the type of media that the scanner can read. My desktop scanner can scan a barcode from my phone screen as any glare from the phone does not prevent the reader from scanning. This is a limitation so far with this reader, I have been unable to make it read a barcode displayed on either my laptop or phone screen. It reads barcodes on paper without fail, working every time. Another limitation is that there is no easy way to determine the remaining charge level, you have to scan a barcode in the manual to display the remaining battery level on your connected device (phone/laptop) or wait for it to denote low charge levels through sound and lights. This is not a major issue or concern since the reader uses a standard USB-C charger and the LED shows whether the reader is charging or fully charged - you can simply plug it in from time to time. Even with these limitations, I will continue to use this reader because it is portable and works really well for paper barcodes. In the meantime I can just print the barcodes that I use frequently to help automate my processes, and hope I can find a way to make it work with barcodes displayed on screens. This limitation is not a deal-breaker for me and this is a very useful barcode reader.
