Works perfectly! I filled it with alcohol, put the lid on it and took it in my bee tool box to do my inspection. While I had the hive open I took it apart used the lid to gather my bees and had my mite test done in no time. Super easy to use!!!

This has made my bee testing process so incredibly easy. Easy assembly and disassembly for washing and storing, simple to use, easy separation of bees and mite chamber for counting. The cup itself is the perfect size for scooping the right amount of bees for testing. Its larger size also makes it so easy to use without having to take bee gloves off. Definitely one of the better models I’ve used! Great for beginners in beekeeping

Very effective at separating Varroa Mites from bees, allowing for easy viewing, counting, and calculation of the number of mites per 100 bees. I'm very happy with this relatively simple piece of kit, as it makes seeing the number of mites that wash off of your bee sample very easy. I only use an alcohol wash, not the sugar roll method, so I can't speak for how well it works in that application. I do think that this is a bit overpriced for what amounts to three pieces of plastic, but it works well, and I don't expect it to shatter or break anytime soon, so it'll likely be around for some time and earn its way back.

If you have bees you need to check for mites. Easy to use. Take the basket out, add some alcohol to the container. Put some bees in the basket to test. Put the basket in, then tighten the lid. Give the bees a good bath with it. Count the mites, look at the lines on the basket to know if it’s 200 or 300. Decide whether or not you need to do treatment or if your preferred method of treatment is working.
