A treasure trove of nutritional information.
I first bought this book a long time ago for myself. I liked it so much that I bought another one for my sister and yet another one for my brother. This is testament to how good and useful a book a believe it to be. It contains a wealth of knowledge about the nutrition available from most wholefoods. It is certainly based on oriental systems with its frequent references to yin and yang and excess and deficiency, heat and cold, balance etc. Anyone familiar with TCM will be at home with this book...and if not, thenanyone would also find it interesting and informative. It also contains some healthy recipes. I have referred to this book frequently.

I have bought this book several times already because it is just that good. It contains very comprehensive listings and remedies for a wide range of health issues. I personally learnt a lot about how to manage joint issues from this book. The last time that I bought it I got it for my teachers in Thailand, who are very knowledgable already about herbal medicines and I thought that they would be interested to take a look at this.

Good adjunct bok for alternative therapists
I am an acupuncturist so this book is really good for linking food with conditions. It covers a range of ailments and has sound advice. It has helped me flesh out my assignments when studying and gives practical advice for patients that need to adjust their diet to really bed in the treatment. When I bought it Dec 2013 was around £16 and a bargain!

A "Must-have" Reference Guide
I have bought this book three times (for myself) over the years, several times for friends and family members, and I highly recommend it to everyone that asks me about my dietary transformation. I still refer to it at least once a week. This book is an absolute "must-have" for anyone serious about their healing, detox and overall health. It's easy to read, very thorough, and appropriate for all levels.

The BEST of the BEST books on nutrition!
This book is amazing in every sense of the word! Very well written and very well presented, you see a lot of work was put into it. This is a recommended book by the University of Westminster-London. It was already adopted by students of nutrition and this is how I got to read it for the first time. A MUST have for anyone interest in human nutrition as well and students of naturopathy, Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine or Yoga as the author makes the link between traditional medicines and science. With tons of easy to cook recipes at the end and all you need to change your lifestyle to a healthy one, this is definitely the Best book written on the subject. I love it!

Very comprehensive!
Since finding out I had a brain tumour I've bought many books on the subject of diet and health but none have surpassed this. In both it's approach and content. The first by laying out things clearly and the content for it's ability to explain complex points to the lay man. My only criticism if I could had one would be it gives almost too much information making it a very large and daunting tome!

I was vegetarian from the time I was 12 to 21 and then off and on after. In the past year I have found that despite supplements and additions of b12 and iron in my diet I was suffering from all the symptoms of b12 and iron deficiency. My moods had never been very stable, my periods always came with much PMS. We were looking into whether or not I was bipolar. I looked into many options, Naturopathic medicine, herbalism, aromatherapy, shamanism, western medicine, psychiatry, yoga and then I found this book. After reading it I came to the hard conclusion that I would try eating meat. It was never a choice I felt comfortable with but faced with my life's collapse and feeling that diet and exercise was a stronger medication than any mental health medication I tried it. I immediately felt the effects. The exhaustion, the mood swings, went away. Months later the PMS went away. A few more adjustments to my diet including eliminating eggs and nuts, which I found created too much excess.. and my anger, my irritation dissolved. Leaving me with a much more peaceful life, a more peaceful mind. This was from me reading a book, not talking to a doctor. This book is comprehensive, and easy to use so much so that I could change my life. It was as if Paul Pitchford was sitting in the room talking with me. A couple of times reading the sections that related to me and I had a workable plan. Putting the plan into action I immediately saw my life transform. So please don't put your health and body into a stereotype. This book helped me transform my life! I want to share it with you because each person is unique in what is best for them. Sometimes people are telling you to do this or that because it will make you healthy; raw food, vegetarianism; or because it is good for the earth, veganism.That if you are sick you should take this medication or accept a label for what is wrong with you. When in reality if you change the foundation of your life through diet and exercise until you find what is right for you.. your life and the way you think can transform. But you are unique. This book recommends a vegetarian diet, but empasis is put on finding what works for you. There is a disease and illness guide, sections of vitamins and minerals and what that looks like for your body in excess and deficiency. Combining Chinese medicine and nutrition you have all the tools you need to look at yourself critically, to heal, to grow, to thrive.

Davvero un'ottima guida per coloro che intendono avere un punto di vista serio e competente sul ruolo fondamentale dell'alimentazione , e non solo, sul nostro benessere. Sicuramente non si tratta di un "opuscolo" ma di un vero e proprio manuale ricco di consigli per affrontare con consapevolezza e fiducia numerose malattie. ITs pretty heavy and has a lot of useful material. Good print. Good binding but it took a long while to get to us.
