Works excellent

Spreader is well made. There are things that can be improved. The handle is too short. I'm 6 feet tall and I have to bend to use it. My yard is about 1/4 of an acre and by back hurts after I use it. The wheels are hollow in the inside, under the section that spread the treatment and they tend to collect it, specially when you use it in the morning as it is recommended as the grass is wet from the dew, to help adhesion of the granules to the weed.

Scotts DLX Edge Guard Broad Cast Spreader... 5 STARS IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO... 20 POUND FILL LIMIT...Over that...you're abusing it. CAPS POPPING OFF... yes, it can happen. WHY?...The axle slides sideways back and forth about 1". Keep it level. Only the right wheel spins the spreader, the left is free wheeling. Banging the spreader on one wheel or the other, can pop off the caps. I'm going to try epoxying them on to prevent that. UNEVEN SPREADING... happened twice. One was a clump. Dug it out, and broke it up. The second time...ooops,forgot to turn the EDGER OFF! SW Fl, thick floratam lawn, for $100 or so... Ran great out of the box. Expected some hard pushing, none. First use on a 15,000 sq. ft. lawn, ran 1 10lb. bag, and then another, rhen a 20 lb bag, and then another 20 lb. bag. Rolled smoothly, spread nicely. (70 yr old, in pretty good shape).

Prefect for my needs...one of the plastic hubs on the wheels kept popping off when the shaft axe moved from side to side...but nothing a little ticking and some JB weld couldn't secure...

Sturdy and convenient, no regrets for going with bigger and pricier dlx version, it is for sure worth it when you have a lot of backyard

I returned the one I reviewed below. While shopping in Home Depot afterwards I saw several new ones on the floor. They sat fine. I wheeled a few around. They seemed to work well. So I bought one. I put down about 2,500 sq ft of fertilizer. That worked well. Then I tried pelletized lime. I have a 20+ year old Scott's broadcast spreader that still works and I've probably put down over 100 bags of pelletized lime over the years WITH NO PROBLEM. I didn't get through one bag before the wheel jammed on this one. Outrageous. It's just poorly designed and cheap. I haven't been happy lately with their fertilizer either so this will be the last time using Scott's. Sick of it. First review: It just arrived. I was going to buy at Home Depot Sunday but decided to wait. Got home and mine definitely replacing. Went on Amazon and ordered. 1. At Home Depot there was one on display and new ones in boxes. I tried the one on display and it was a good replacement. When I set it back on its stand, it sat perfectly stable. The one I just received does not. Went its on its stand, the right wheel is about a half inch in the air. Not sure if I can fix it. Something's wrong. 2. A new one is supposed to be in a Scott's box. This one wasn't. A return maybe. Not happy. 3. They stuck a plastic holder for "Packing List Enclosed" stuck to the hopper. Nothing was in it. But it did leave adhesive on the hopper. Did I mention I'm not happy? 4. Not that there would be much in a manual, but THERE SHOULD BE A MANUAL. There isn't. It would have been in had the spreader STILL BEEN IN THE SCOTT'S BOX!. So something's wrong with it. Warped, bent, distorted,...whatever. It's defective. It should sit back even. It doesn't

poorly designed product. leaves burn strips all over lawn. Have purchased Scott product before with poor results. there will not be a next time.
