BUCKLOS 1-1/8 Bike Headset MTB Threadless with Bearings for Bike Frame Fork

So far, this headset is super smooth and nice for the price, a solid upgrade from my loose ball bearing cage that came with the bike. The sealed cartridge bearings are doing a great job thus far.

I returned 2 sets of the 44/56 because I ordered the 44/50.6 and they kept sending the wrong one. I received the 44/50.6 and installed them today with no problems. Perfect upgrade for a northrock XC00. Remove the old cups and bottom race and it slide right on. The steering is amazingly smooth now. I should have ordered new spacers because the new bearings have a short dust cap, so I have the old dust cap stacked on top to make it work. It's not a problem, just not as clean and hides the upgrade under the stock cover.

For under $20 this headset is unbeatable. The fit and finish is not quite as nice as Cane Creek, but a 40-series headset starts at around $60. I just got it and installed it so I have no idea about the long term durability, but standard bearings fit these cups so if they don't last I can upgrade to another brand's bearings. This is perfect for a beater bike or budget build where you don't care about brand names. I also use Bucklos brake pads and they are great.

Replaced the forks on my bike, went this bearing solution. Old forks did not have sealed bearings like this kit. Super simple installation, 15 minutes. Do yourself the favor when you order this. Also purchase the tool to sink the star nut. You will likely use the star nut not the compression fitting. Once installed and tightened zero play in the head. Easy assembly with my new forks and existing neck and bars. Inexpensive and quality solution. Looks great. Silky smooth bearing action.

Very nice for my budget build frame, this is good quality and works just fine, this is not Chris King quality, but is is also not Chris King money either, nicer than what came in my Gary Fisher frame.

This is for a ZS 44/44 for a 1 1/8 inch straight steerer tube. I originally left a one-star review as I couldn't get the compression ring into the bearing cartridge. Turns out this compression ring has a taller profile than the Cane Creek headsets that I have previously installed and prefer. It looks like the bearing cup and the top cap are engineered to accomodate this. I have just ordered another of these as I think I have damaged the compression ring trying to make it fit. That's all on me... some instructions with photos could have helped though. I still had a problem with the crown race not fitting for which I used a cane creek crown race and it fit fine, but nearly doubled the cost. Also, the box it came in had obviously been damaged and heavily taped. I'm not sure if it was a return or if some parts got mixed up (like the crown race). After I get this installed I will update my review. I think it will all work and I will have some spare parts. The red headset itself looks good. The cups are the easiest I have ever put into a head tube, like way easier. This is going on a kids bike that he will likely outgrow before the bearings ever need servicing, but if they go bad that quickly, I'll let you know.
