Once the speaker wires are in the device you can and hook them to the speaker terminal posts much easier than doing it with bare wire, giving you a more positive connection and if you change speakers it's just as easy. Yes, the Nakamichis are on the expensive side but you get what you paid for: high quality craftsmanship and materials and very aesthetically pleasing.
