Built-ins and Storage: For Pros by Pros (Taunton's for Pros by Pros)

I know it wasn't a brand spanking new version but it's great for know how and inspiration as to how to solve storage problems in awkward areas aswell as creating some unusual pieces of storage furniture, is a very clean 'pre owned' copy..even better value!

Great price, arrived before due date. This will come in very handy to our new son-in-law, he hasn't seen it yet as it's a gift.

Fine for ideas

This is a good book with some good ideas but it is very much aimed at the US market. Still found some of the planning info very useful which will save me from a few pitfalls when I do start my project to build some wardrodes.

I thought I would use this to help us building a wardrobe - well, it didn't help at all. there's only a half page that was relevant and still with very vague, unhelpful, useless description.

This book is very helpful if you want to plan (and build) your own closet. In the begining you can also see all the equipment and material you need. Unfortunatelly I can not get all of them in Slovenia and there are only english units (no meters, centimeters, ...) - therefor I give it 4 stars.

I have some background in carpentry and was looking for a book to give me great ideas for a fireplace surround that I want to build. After much searching, I found this book and decided to give it a try. I am so glad that I did. This book is thorough and informative. I love that the pros give hints based on their experience. They write so anyone can understand it and yet even seasoned builders will find info they can use. There are many pictures of finished projects along with well written instructions and great 'how to' pictures. I can't think of anything that is missing in this book. I am now designing the bookcase surround for my fireplace. Thank you for a wonderful book.

this book can help with a project or take a project right from it. leafing through you will certainly find something along the lines of what you want to build for whatever purpose you have in mind.

This book is excellent. It is detailed and easy to understand and gave me ideas I had never considered. I would definitely suggest it for all levels of DIY folks.

If you are familiar with Taunton books, you'll know the format of this book, which is basically a compilation of articles from their magazines. I found a few articles that were interesting and helpful. I would guess that no one will find all of the articles useful. I liked an article that showed three different types of closet shelving. I also found a few articles with nice design ideas. You could easily complain that quite a few of the articles are very dated- for instance a picture of a honey stained birch ply wardrobe that had an honest to goodness pair of roller skates in them (I had to smile at that). You'll see an entertainment center built around an older CRT TV and VCR. I would expect a modern book to discuss Kreg pocket screw joinery, none of that. There are also a lot of special case articles that I couldn't make much use out of (alcove beds, a murphy bed idea, ideas for a laundry chute, a fireplace seat). Overall, I think this book needs a good updating.
