This little rice cooker is just awesome. We are just cooking for two now unless the kids and grandkids come over which does happen. But this thing will cook up eight cups of cooked rice so that's plenty. Listen, I don't know how it does it but it cooks up polenta and oatmeal better.... A lot better than I can do it on the stove. No more getting burned by popping polenta or oatmeal boiling over on the stove making a mess, burning to the bottom when I get distracted. Here's how dang easy this thing is to use: Rice, grains, oatmeal, polenta fill the cup to the top.... Toss it in. Fill the little cup with the right amount of water. Toss it in. (There is a chart). Shut the lid. Turn it on. Select the rice, oatmeal or whatever button. Forget about it. Make some toast or coffee or something else. You don't have to worry about it. It'll just get done and it'll just switch over to keep warm by itself. All you got to do is open the lid and scoop the stuff out of the non-stick pot and start eating. The advantages of this thing are clear. It Cooks whatever you're wanting perfectly........every time. It doesn't burn it, it doesn't overcook it so it's consistent. You don't have to monitor it. You don't have to stir. You don't have to clean up a mess after you're done. All you have to do is clean out the pot. You can steam cook food with this as well and it will function as a slow cooker as well. I think a lot of folks out there, even if they have a fairly large kitchen. Sometimes counter space can be at a premium and this thing takes up very little space but it does an awful lot so I think it makes it a pretty useful little appliance.

We enjoy both of the units we purchased but one of the condensation collectors has cracked. We are unable to find a replacement piece for it. That would be very helpful. Cooks well and easy to use.

I LOVE this rice cooker!! It makes the perfect oatmeal and once I figured out the rice settings to cook how I like my rice that was great! I also made the most indulgent grits in them!! Great for big families!! It's so easy to use and looks gorgeous with the gunmetal color! I love to just set it and forget it on busy days! I can't wait to try the steamer or to make a cake!!

The unit was packaged well and came with a 2" steamer basket, measuring cup (equivalent to US ¾ cup), a plastic spoon, and user manual. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. The buttons on the front of the Aroma are easy to read and clear as to the functions each button does. 1st test I made white rice using the quick rice function. It says to rinse the rice before cooking so I did that. It is easy to measure when using the provided measuring cup, then you add water to the designated line in the cooker based on how many cups of rice are added. I added 2 of their measuring cups. After about 8 minutes, steam was coming out from the cooker and 15 minutes later, it showed 4 minutes left on the display. It took approximately 30 minutes for it to be done and the cooker beeped 5 times (wasn't super loud), but went into keep warm mode. I turned it off and opened the lid and the rice was done and was perfect! 2nd test was using the steam function. The steamer basket is only 2" deep and I wanted to steam broccoli. The basket held about 8oz of frozen broccoli in order to close the lid. I originally put it on steam and set the timer for 5 minutes. It took about 10 minutes to start the countdown and it did display the time remaining when there was 4 minutes left. I checked it when the timer went off, but it was still partially frozen so I set it for another 5 minutes, but saw it steaming a lot and stopped it after 3 minutes and the broccoli was tender crisp and tasty! It took about 20 minutes total to steam the broccoli. 3rd test was using the delayed timer and making brown rice. I rinsed the rice before placing in the cooker. Instructions for brown rice are the same as white when using the measuring cup and the required amount of water. I set the delay timer for 10 hours and then selected the brown rice setting so it would be ready when getting home from work. The hour started counting down and the rice started cooking at the designated time and by the time I got home, the rice was done and was perfect! Cleaning the unit wasn't hard in any of the tests I did, the rice did not stick to the pot at all. You have to remember to empty the little steam catcher on the back of the Aroma pot. What I didn't like about cleaning is the lid is not removable and neither is the rubber ring that seals the pot, so if you make something that splatters or messy, it will be harder to remove the food from the lid/ring. I also removed the steamer plug and a piece of plastic fell out (not sure where it came from). The other thing is under the basket, in the main part of the unit, there were 3 places at the top where it is not flat and the metal is raised and sharp and could potentially cut you if you are not careful. All in all, the Aroma Professional cooked everything really well. I feel it is a perfect addition for a single person if trying to use it to make full meals, but it makes multiple servings of rice for a family, which would be the main purpose for my family. If I were to make this product, I would include 2 different sized steam baskets and would make the 2nd basket at least 3" deep for larger pieces of meat or like with the broccoli, I was not able to make a complete bag of broccoli because it was too full and I couldn't close the lid. I look forward to trying the other options, like making oatmeal using the delay function and having breakfast be done when I wake up. The slow cook option to make some soup or small pot roast while I'm at work and trying the sauté/simmer feature.

First rice cooker we've ever owned and it's worked well for us. All we've used it for is to cook rice (white/brown/basmati/jasmine), usually just one uncooked cup at a time. A couple weeks short of its sixth birthday, it quit working and displayed an E4 error message, which the internet says means there's a problem with a sensor or some wiring. We unplugged it and tried it again the next day - and again got the E4. In 6 years, the price has gone up $1 so I just ordered a new one rather than having it repaired or looking at it myself.

This machine is amazing. I love that is easy to use, has the perfect size, is completely silent and makes fluffy and tasty rice and oatmeal. Price is really amazing for what it does.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This product sucks. First off, it’s slow! It takes over an hour to make steel cut oats. Steel cut took 30m in our last rice cooker! On top of that, If you load more than 2 cups of material, then it will spit goop out of the vent on the top and cover your tabletop with scalding goop. It is messy! Overloading may cause this with any cooker, but it takes virtually no material to overload this one, because it always be spitting goop. Always. Finally? It can’t be cleaned. Ever. The lid that seals the cookpot is permanently attached to the top of the machine. That means you can’t put it under the tap to rinse it—you’d have to put the whole machine in there. It’s also designed with a rubber gasket that makes it impossible to scrub the attached lid effectively: you can’t get down in the cracks where material builds up and dries out. I disapprove of landfills on principle, but for this I must reluctantly make an exception. It can serve no other use but as trash. Do not waste your money like I did.

Amazing grain cooker. Yes, by design, the vent at times spills liquid on top of the cooker and i prefer this design because it is easier to clean the top of the cooker than tearing up the inner lid to clean the internals of the cooker. I place my cooker on a tray because the vent can get messy which is okay because it is easy to clean with a wipe or two. Cooking functions as expected, this grain cooker is easy to operate and timing feature is a plus. I was able for example to cook steel cut oat which is anathema to cook in a regular pot. The sauté and cook feature enabled me to make rice pilau all in one space and not worry about transferring onions from one pot to another. Such is the versatility of a grain cooker like this one which works for all my needs. Quinoa, slow cooking etc, food tastes as expected. Machine is light and portable, reliable, and has sorted me out when it comes to preparing and cooking my grain foods. This is a simple straightforward grain cooker for anyone prioritizing cost, function, reliability and the ever elusive countertop space. Mine is the 4 cup version power rated at 120v 60Hz 550 watts and is UL listed. The cord is intentionally short so those folk who love cooking on their kitchen islands in their farmhouses can only utilize this grain cooker on a countertop adjacent to a wall for safety purposes.

I have had a couple of these and I absolutely love them. They do absolutely everything and what I had not expected is the reduction in my energy cost. If you own a gas stove, you will find this especially good on your bills. When I started using it, I had a gas stove and my utility bill went down by 40 a month.

The rice cooker was intended to be present, however, received with already opened and torn packaging … very disappointing
