The 7 Principles of Stress: Extend Life, Stay Fit, and Ward Off Fat-What You Didn't Know about How Stress Can Reboot Your Mind, Energy, and Sex Life Review: The evolution of Ori Hofmekler - This is the 4th book by Hofmekler that I have read. This book is the culmination and synthesis of his other works. It’s his shortest work by far but it’s his best written book; anything longer would be fluff. You can read this book and not need to read any of his other work. There is an overlap in all of his work. I have not read Unlock Your Muscle Gene. For me, the weakest link is Maximum Muscle, Minimum Fat; some of the ideas are better presented than The Warrior Diet but it’s not really new information from a practical standpoint. Although I think The Warrior Diet is, in some ways, the worst written, I think it’s foundational and has almost all of the information one needs. The Anti-Estrogenic Diet adds some new information to some of the dietary aspects. Hofmekler has gone from the point of view that we were hunter/gatherers to gatherer/foragers in our earliest days as humans. He takes some of this from the physical anthropologist Clifford Jolly’s article “The Seed Eaters: A New Model of Hominid Differentiation Based on a Baboon Analogy” (1970); he has mentioned Jolly’s work in an online article. He mentions as early as The Warrior Diet that humans don’t synthesize animal protein very well. He now promotes a mostly vegetarian diet with occasional fish. He is now very much against the realities of modern agriculture and husbandry. Hofmekler makes the case, which he started in The Anti-Estrogenic Diet, that our current environment is poisonous to humans in many ways. In his earlier work, he focused on the perils of too much estrogen. In this work, he focuses on the constant stressors of modern life and the struggles with no reward for far too many people. But the right amount of stress applied in the right way is beneficial and even desirable. Hofmekler tells you how to utilize stressors to make you thrive. Another review mentions that he’s short on specifics but that’s not really the case. I find him very explicit in what he recommends and how we can make that happen. The only scientifically proven method of life extension is calorie restriction. Modern humans are over fed and it’s making us biologically worse. Hofmekler makes a compelling case, over the course of all his work, that we need to make a radical changes in our lives to survive. I would be much healthier if I had stuck to The Warrior Diet. It was hard at that time for me to maintain with my lifestyle and level of knowledge then. I find myself at a crossroads and I believe that I will make the correct choices from this point forward in very large part to this work. For exercise, I would also recommend the works of Covert Bailey and Leonard Schwartz. The only problem I have with Hofmekler’s own CFT is that I think a guide or personal trainer would be needed, at least initially, to make it stick as a habit. Review: Love the information in this book! - This book is the perfect compliment to someone on a Vegan / Keto / Carnivore diet philosophy that is built on education but may lack the insight this wealth of information delivers. Many diets are built on ideology and identity which becomes closed minded to how we evolved. We cannot loose sight of truth and segregate because our desire's to group into like mindedness. That action leads to closed mindedness. I loved this book. It evolved some of my current concepts. So glad I read it. :)

Mind blowing, completely out-of the box thinking by Ori Hofmekler
Mind blowing, completely out-of the box thinking by Ori Hofmekler. Very critical view on modern lifestyle with clear guidelines on how to get back to natural state. This is not something you will see or hear in the mainstream media, but this is how we evolved to react on stress factors. Many takes on chronic stress, addictions, aging

Not worth reading
Author talks about “alphas and betas” which had me rolling my eyes due to his clumsy application of evolutionary theory to the complexity of human thought and behavior. Did not offer implementable suggestions to improve the reader’s life. Regrettably Amazon would not let me return this digital book purchase after I skimmed it looking for a golden nugget amidst all the poorly written pseudoscience. I see another reviewer mentioned the author sells supplements. Eye roll #2. Don’t waste your money

When I initially read "The Warrior Diet" I knew I could already hear the voices of skeptics mocking it, and their inevitable resistance to its propositions. I knew I was reading something that for me personally would be life changing. I've been eating one meal a day with caloric and carb cycling for four years now and it has changed my life in terms of motivation, focus, and confidence. The composition of diet is very important in my experience and you still need to eat a high amount of fats and protein. In recent years I thought a lot about the concepts in "The Warrior Diet", how overly "anabolic" the society has become and how it is leading itself to its own death due to its irrational fear of deprivation. I was relieved to see this book further solidify a lot of the ideas and questions that the warrior diet had left me with! The basis of the book (a massive oversimplification in these terms) is that our relationship with stress is completely backwards. We fear and avoid it and try to comfort ourselves with food or other means but with the exception of pathological stress it is actually an very beneficial healing mechanism all centered around something called "The Adaptive Stress Response System" In the book Ori maps a myriad of ways we are able to activate this system with nutritional choices and behaviors as well as changes that can be made to our environment. Can't say enough how much I appreciate this information and how much it has benefited me.
