The DJI Action 4 has exceeded every expectation I originally had when purchasing an action camera. After extensive use, especially during my motorbike rides, I can confidently say that this is one of the best technology investments I have made in a very long time. The overall performance, recording quality, durability, reliability, and ease of use make this camera an exceptional product for both casual users and enthusiasts who want professional looking footage without unnecessary complications. One of the most impressive aspects of the DJI Action 4 is the recording capability and video performance. The camera delivers outstanding clarity, vibrant colour accuracy, remarkable image stabilisation, and incredibly smooth footage across multiple frame rate configurations. The ability to record in various FPS settings provides tremendous versatility depending on the type of footage being captured. Whether recording standard cinematic clips, ultra smooth high frame rate riding footage, or slow motion sequences, the camera performs consistently well in every situation. The visual quality remains sharp and detailed even during fast paced riding conditions and changing lighting environments. The stabilisation technology is genuinely outstanding and makes a significant difference during motorbike use. That decision has proven absolutely worthwhile because the Action 4 maintains the same high standards I have come to expect from DJI products. I genuinely do not regret purchasing this camera in any way. In fact, it has become something I use every single time I take my motorbike out. It has integrated naturally into my riding routine because of how convenient, reliable, and enjoyable it is to use. Many people immediately assume they need the newest DJI Action 5 or future models, but realistically, the Action 4 already delivers nearly everything most users could possibly require. While the newer models may offer slightly higher resolution or incremental upgrades, the Action 4 remains exceptionally powerful and capable. For everyday riders, travellers, content creators, and casual users, it performs brilliantly and offers outstanding value for money. Love this camera. Having used a cheaper alternative before spending a bit more and getting this, can say it's definitely worth paying the extra pennies. Fantastic quality video and audio. The image stabilisation is spot on, I was blown away by the quality. Multiple capture modes, good selection of recording quality options. Good audio, clear and full sounding but also reduces wind noise. The mounting options are well thought out and the mount docking with the case is really sturdy as it uses a mechanical clip alongside a strong magnet. I use this for downhill mountain biking, and find it a good camera for that. Not too large and heavy, which is nice as I helmet mount it. It's casing looks and feels robust. So should survive a few knocks. There is a sacrificial lens cover as well. My only real gripe is the fact you cannot use this without first connecting to the DJI app. As in, it gets locked out eventually without first syncing it with the app you've downloaded onto a phone. Google play don't allow the app on the Playstore due to security concerns, but it is available on Apple devices. I used an old IPhone for this as a workaround and the camera has worked perfectly since. All in all, I love this camera and would recommend it to anyone. But if you have an Android phone you may struggle a bit. I'd still give this 5* despite that.

It’s waterproof without needing a separate case, which is fantastic for capturing underwater footage or not having to worry about it in the rain. Battery life is also impressive, providing plenty of recording time before needing a recharge. I’ve been able to capture hours of footage during long hikes and bike rides without having to worry about the camera dying on me. My story is a familiar one by now. Long-time GoPro user, having bought the Hero 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10, experiencing problems with every single one of them. I put up with it because there was no alternative but by the time I got to the Hero 10 I'd decided that I would no longer buy a GoPro. The faults are well documented but one of the reasons for using a small action cam was to encourage my partner to do some simple vlogging, and it got to the point where she stopped picking the GoPro up because it was so frustrating to use. Enter the Action 4. This camera just works. It turns on when it's supposed to, turns off when it's supposed to, records clips without crashing, doesn't overheat, and charges the battery correctly and quickly. On top of this, the log profile is a joy to colour correct with excellent dynamic range, even in low light. In fact, the low-light performance is way better than I was expecting and certainly covers situations where the GoPro would have just fallen apart. With the GoPro I always shot in linear, and the Action 4 has an equivalent fov (don't for forget to use RS+ for tighter cropping). I dial down sharpness and denoise to -2 for a more cinematic look (yeah, I said that word!). If you're looking for a simple vlogging set-up, I'd consider the Smallrig cage and the Comica VM10 Pro. With the narrower fov you just avoid getting the mic in shot, and the Comica connects directly via USB-C. I thought that cable poking out the side of the camera might be an issue but it works well. Finally, a big shout out to the magnetic connections. It's a genius design and you have to wonder why GoPro hasn't adopted something similar. It makes breaking down the camera to pop in your bag so much quicker. If you're like me and got to the point where your heart would sink when picking up the GoPro, get the Action 4. It is an amazing little camera with superior usability and results. It's the kind of camera that makes you want to just pick it up and get recording.

The experience started well with a few months of use, basically up to that point it did what it said on the tin. It would have got a 5 star rating. However on holiday in July it was used on a helmet mount for SUPboarding. This was a "splash" activity, yes it got wet but it was not properly underwater at any time. Suddenly during the day it started to throw errors on the screen about stopping recording as the temperature was too high. Touching the camera showed it to be rapidly heating up, quickly it was too hot to touch (it would have burned skin) and smelt strongly of burning. I had to leave it outside as I was afraid it was going to burst into flames. After an hour it cooled to the point where it could be touched but it was dead. The battery was stuck in the camera and could not be removed. Amazon insisted it should be returned through their repair service. This took a month to basically do nothing. After raising further issues about their repair performance they declared it was unrepairable and I was refunded. Therefore I lost my holiday recordings (the SD card was toasted) and my camera for over a month and was eventually refunded. So it has been a real pain and I can only say its 1 star. Its a great camera with great video, just do not expect it to be waterproof in any way and do not expect a rapid repair from Amazon. Take a look on the internet at how many have had water ingress issues.

A wonderful action camera with incredible stabilization. I had a bad experience with the camera bracket breaking due to vibrations when attached to my bike handlebar. Luckily the camera survived, but made me decide to fit a safety lanyard so that should it occur again I would not have to rely on good fortune. I removed the camera from the frame and drilled 2 off 1.5mm holes in the corner of the frame. There is sufficient room behind the holes where I drilled to allow the lanyard to link without interfering with the camera. i used waxed polyester whipping twine obtainable from a chandlers to make the loop, which is 23 mm long. It is very easy to attach round the handlebar of the bike by passing it round the handlebar and threading the camera through the loop. The same technique can be used to attach it to any object or loop of twine in high risk camera applications.

Really good action camera, however I do think that there should be a feature to lock certain settings from being changed it’s very easy to setup one mode on the camera itself but any sort of nudge could change your video into a Timelapse which is really not great. Sound quality is impressive considering it’s from the camera itself without using a mic. The app is somewhat easy to control the problem is you will notice that the app usually has lots of issues or updates which is annoying. Video Quality is decent but I’d recommend not using the ultra wide angle because that introduces much lower quality video footage with more noise.

Pleased with the performance of the camera and the magnetic coupling device is so easy to use.
