Use the toneprints!
I bought the Vortex on impulse, because I used to love this sound. I discover the Vortex can be a traditional flanger, but it's much more. Apart from the wide spectrum of tones provided by the control knobs, the toneprints give you chorus, tremolo an a wide variety of effects. A great pedal that I'll be keeping. db

Look no further this is the flanger for you!!!!!!!!
After purchasing a number of items from Amazon over the years, this is my first ever review. I felt compelled to say something about this cracking little pedal. It's just simply awesome, the different flanger tones you can get from this are mind blowing & it's not unknown for me to lose myself for a good couple of hours just messing about dialling in different sounds. Tc electronic are fast becoming my favourite guitar effects people & I've already placed my order with the wife for my Xmas prezzie........ Tc's flashback delay. I know I won't be disappointed!

It is sturdy and the footswitch is of the silent
I bought this to get a Ronnie Le Tekro type of notched filter sound to my signal. It does this quite well but I just didn't really find any other use for it aside from this and returned it. It is sturdy and the footswitch is of the silent, non-clicky, type. There are lots of Toneprints available but, I just feel that flanging isn't that much of a versatile effect and therefore I returned it and purchased the Corona Chorus instead.

Nice versatile flange pedal. Toneprint is a neat feature.
I am very pleased with this pedal it gives me the tones I was looking for and is quite versatile. The toneprint feature which allows me to add patches by holding my phone to the pickup and beaming an analog modem sounding signal to the pedal is a great party trick but after trying most of the options I've settled on a few I really like and one keeper (Joe Perry's actually) that I keep loaded. Combined with my other pedals I can get some nice Van Halenish chunky flangey goodness. It does spaceship sounds too if that's your flavor. Also can give some nice chorus type fx especially with some toneprint patches.

Commande arrivée avant le temps
La pédale fait le travail. Très versatile et, avec le toneprint, ça donne accès à des centaines de prérèglages par des professionnels.

Too much dialing, too little reward.
I purchased mine for $109 and I expected to love it. But I don't love it. On a whim I bought an AA atr-5 (by Aroma?) For < $25. And I love that cheap analog flanger. And I find it difficult to dial in that wonderful 'cheap' analog sound on the Vortex. The range of the Vortex controls go well beyond what I consider usable. It does NOT come with a manual. You can get the PDF online and I recommend downloading it. On most pedals knobs to the left means 'less' and knobs to the right means 'more'. But some of the knobs have a 0-point at 12 O'clock. For example the feedback control: turning it to the left gives you more 'negative feedback', not 'less' feedback. You can also get some cool effects with the tap flange setting where you can get the range to cross-over the zero-point (using the delay time knob). I found the toneprint feature not as responsive to my phone app as with other TC Electronics pedals. I also found this pedal surprisingly loud. If you know you want this pedal then it will work great. But if you aren't sure, you might try something cheaper.

upgraded from the mini
Goy the mini at a good price, was very happy with that, saw a good price drop on this model, great value, even happier with this, able to create some interesting sounds!

Toneprint saves the day...
This flanger would get only 3 stars if it wasn't for the programmable Toneprint feature, which enables me to make it sound like my ADA Flanger on super slow settings. I had to program the exact settings into the Toneprint software myself because it's not available as one of the downloadable presets. But the hassle has been worth it. It saves me a lot of board space to be able to use this sometimes and not worry about breaking out the far superior 90s reissue ADA, which is the best flanger I've ever heard.
